I spent several hours hanging on Lamaru Beach. The sand was very soft, the ocean water was too cold for me but still nice and refreshing, and there was plenty of space to relax among numerous friendly people on the beach. There are lots of stores, restaurants, and other attractions there as well. Parking is hit or miss, but we found something pretty quickly . This will probably be our go to spot every time we're in Balikpapan.See more..
3.5Kemala Beach(102 reviews) - Cheap Entrance Fee but Expensive Food Sunday: 8:00 AM - 11:00 PM Beaches
We came to Kemala beach on weekdays. Not many people there. So we can enjoy the beach freely. This beach was located right in the middle of Balikpapan centre. It was a clean enough beach. With very cheap entrance fee. We came in with a car, 2 adults & 3 kids, and we only paid IDR6000. Too bad, the washing facilities was awfull. Dirty and dont have many rooms provided. We sat on benches under the palm trees and were (forced) given a food menu from a restaurant. To make everyone happy we decided to order some coconuts. And it costs IDR23500 for each coconut. What!!See more..
4.0Benua Patra Beach(49 reviews) - Pantai Banua Patra a nice place to visit Beaches
The beach is situated across the popular Lapangan Merdeka (Merdeka Field). There is a huge Sport Center, and just behind the building you can find the Chopper field, and the beach. The first time, I came to this place it was in the late afternoon and spent most of my time at the Chopper field on the left side of the beach. I took some pictures of the city scrapers and the couples and some group of people just hanging around waiting for the sunset. My last visit, two weeks ago, I explored the rugged beach (the right side of the beach to the direction of Melawai Beach). There is a little rugged rock where people like take pre-wedding picture. When you climb up the rock and you can find another secluded little beach. If you walk further, you can take picture of the hill scattered by houses. This used-to-be ford location, is a good place to take picture of the sunset. Over weekend you will find many photographers here.See more..

4.0Angsana Beach(40 reviews) - SUN RISE BETWEEN THE COAL SHIPS Beaches
Angsana beach is one of the beautiful beaches in the south of kalimantan. Spending the evening in here is very pleasant, we can see the beautiful sun set between some of coal ship in the sea. Even though there are some of coal ship in the sea, this beach is still quite clean and comfortable. There are several sellers who offer food, drinks, souvenirs and others. The facilities here are also quite adequate and there are several good hotels for tourists in the seashore. If i have many time to holiday, i want to go there again.See more..
3.5Tanjung Bajau Beach(34 reviews) - Beautiful places for relaxing Spent More than 3 hours Beaches
I visited this beach on January 27, 2020. This beach is still quite good and memorable. But some of the statues on the beach seemed to have been demolished. At the lodge adjacent to the beach, you can watch musical performances. I came there when it coincided with Chinese New Year. Just for information, you need to pay about Rp 60000 for entering the beach. You can enjoy 4 places using the ticket especially for entering Bajau beach, Rindu Alam Park, Sinka Zoo and Water Park. But actually I could not find any Water Park there, maybe it has moved or something else.See more..
Went with my girlfriend and her family as I was visiting Balikpapan, sat down under umbrellas and on the mats. Good food and coconuts but the water was extremely dirty, very brown and the sewerage runs straight into the sea so was not comfortable swimming in it. Maybe better on another day See more..
