The best museum Hamburg has to offer, from what I've seen so far
This museum has exhibitions on literally EVERYTHING related to the sea. You name it: whether it's exhibitions on engineering beyond navigation, the history of the world through ships and vessels, maritime paintings, the history of naval companies from Hamburg, and so many more. These are the only ones we had the chance to see in the roughly 6 hours we were there and I don't think it was even half, since the museum has 9 floors, each of them with an exhibition. The collection of miniatures is absolutely impressive. Damn! There's an exhibition of miniatures carved out of bones! I had no idea such a thing existed :o I fell in love with this museum, although I'm not a nerd for ships, vessels, or other maritime related topics. What could be improved would be the opening hours. Honestly, there is just not enough time in 8 hours to see everything. Maybe one should come on different days.. Also, if one wants to go have lunch at the restaurant in the museum, it might be a waste of time that could be better spent in the exhibitions. I don't know what's with that restaurant, but the waiting times are enormous. I sat there for at least 15 minutes just to get a damn menu. The waiters would only come to your table if you called them. They do have a lot of work going on, but still, it felt very unwelcoming to be ignored by the personnel. In regards to the museum again, while the information had plenty of English descriptions, in some exhibitions, it was a little scarce, which was a little frustrating since the exhibits were so interesting.

Enough Model Ships To Sink a Ship!
There are nine levels in the museum and the recommended way to see it is to take the lift to the top and then work your way down to the ground floor. There are literally enough models of ships of all description and sizes to sink a ship. The detail and range of the models is really impressive. There is some English explanation of each floor and thematic display but 95% is in German, so some of the detail I was interested in was lost. Instead of potentially spending at least half a day there, as the exhibits warrant, I perused through it in 90 minutes
