Beautiful Interior and Fascinating Tour

We were really thankful for the opportunity to take an English tour. We simply had to show proof of vaccination and wear a mask during the tour. The interior of the building is amazing for a government office. Each room is decorated in a different way and many of the doors and wall coverings are very intricate. The tour guide provided a great sense of the history of Hamburg and the use of the building, as well as information concerning the art works and interior decorations.

    Very beautiful structure
    This is Hamburg's city hall or seat of local government. It's a very beautiful building and a very big one. The surroundings are also nice with the lake front road leading to the hall, a big square in the front with some street shops, Churches and other shopping area nearby. A nice place to spend your time around this. We couldn't visit the inside of the building as it was closed.

    Wine in style
    The last thing I expected in a 125 year old city hall built in a Neo Renaissance style is a restaurant and bar. Within minutes we were served a wonderful Grauburgunder in the old Parliament Bar. Staff worked with a smile and were very attentive.
