Beautiful beach

In February 2023 we visited Ceuta and spent some time on Playa de la Ribera. The beach was a short walk from the centre of Ceuta, which was beautiful with parks, fountains, plazas, museums, monuments and historical buildings including the House of Dragons, the Cathedral,, the fort, Murallas Reales de Ceuta, the Triumphal arch, Faro Punta Almin lighthouse and Fuerte del Desnarigado fort. On the day we visited it was very warm and there were lots of families enjoying picnics on the spacious beach. The beach was spotlessly clean, the sand was soft and the sea was turquoise blue with clear water. At the beach we spoke to a local couple who said that in the summer the beach is very busy with inflatables in the sea and it is possible to hire sunbeds and umbrellas as well as participating in water sports such as kayaking or canoeing. On the beach there were several beach bars and showers.

Right next to the centre of town. A delightful spot.
On a weekday in September it was fairly quiet but at weekends it might well be crowded as it's not that expansive. All that you could wish for in a sandy if slightly gritty, beach though.

    A 'combo' beach?!
Lovely expanse of beach- but not that big and does get a little crowded in peak Summer. Bars and cafes. Watersports available. Safe swimming. Why do I call it a combo beach ?- well it was a strange and unexpected combination - Spanish and other europeans in budgie smugglers, some Europeans with boobs out or totally naked. Then you would see a Moroccan family on the beach - fully dressed and in niqab ! Strange experience. All very accepting- which is good. There are designated naturist beaches in Spain and I did not see any signage for a naturist beach here- maybe this just happens on the Spanish Southern side of the Med?? Oh Matron !!
