National Museum of Art of Romania (Muzeul Național de Artă al României), Bucharest, Romania
4.0 (664 reviews) Saturday: 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM Spent Ranking #14 in Bucharest Art Museums
A must see for art lovers
This museum is located in the former Royal Palace and has three parts. You can purchase a ticket for each part separately or you can obtain a combined ticket. The section on European art only has a small portion open. The rest is closed for renovations. The centre section shows the rooms of the former palace. The highlight has to be the Romanian art section. While the first floor has mostly religious art, the upper floors are more diverse. I highly recommend visiting all three parts of this museum. (There is a fourth part, which houses temporary exhibitions, which requires a separate ticket.)

Enjoyable cultural afternoon at this museum complex
This is actually a complex of 2 museums plus the palace so allow around 3 hours for the whole thing. We paid 40 Lei each for the 3 which we considered good value. You can pay separately for each if you only have time for one, but if you have a few hours it makes sense to visit all of them. Bear in mind they take cash only...no credit cards so maybe change up some cash early in your trip. There is a lot of walking over several floors so comfy shoes are a must. There were some laminated cards with information in several languages which was useful. We found the curators to be very helpful and welcoming and they helped to make our visit enjoyable. The art in the museum is quite well labelled with the name of the artist/ period and country of origin. The palace gives you a good impression of how it must have been , quite opulent. Very impressed by the marble staircase. The National museum includes a wide collection of religious iconography and ecclesiastical garments and vessels. Some from disbanded monasteries which are beautiful and should be considered cultural art in its own right as well as its place in religious history. Overall a good way to spend a few hours absorbing some cultural history and fine art.

This museum is the home of several famous paintings including the 4 seasons by Brueghel painted 400 years ago
Museum has 2 main collections, the Romanian art in 1 wing and the rest of Europe in another wing of the museum. Entry is about 8€ and more if they also have special show of art. The museum have an important collection of old masters including Rubens, Rembrandt, El Greco and Brueghel. They have a small museum shop.
