   It is a very beautiful green area, full of auctoctonous trees and wild species of animals. They are kept in well kept places that resemble their natural habitat. You can have a picnic or walk around, several benches and tables are all over. There are hundreds of animals you can observe, a reptiles room with exotic species and a little market with local handcraft. There is also a coffee shop at the entrance.    The geological history of Grutas del Palacio is quite interesting, the walk through the rural countryside of Flores to get to the caves is lovely, the small museum has some interesting items, our guide was excellent (She spoke English quite well.), and the video (in Spanish only) explained the site's history. But don't go here expecting to see impressive large caves. They are quite small. We were quite surprised and impressed by the fossil dinosaur egg in the museum. The location is easy to get to if you are driving - on Ruta 3 about 46 Km. north of Trinidad in Flores, and parking is convenient. See more..
