We had a fantastic trip with Methow River Raft and Kayak. Our guides could not have been more friendly and generous with their time and energy, especially offering to have all of our children in one raft while the adults were in another. Nick spent the entire trip entertaining and teaching our children the science behind rafting while Elise took the grownups and offered great stories and information about the Methow River and the valley. I would highly recommend this company, See more..

We got invited and were shown around their facilities and explained to us daily business and their work during fires. It was sooooo intersting and one can learn a lot about Smokejumpers. We also were allowed to board their airplane. It was a very nice tour, everyone was inviting and friendly. We highly recommend this "attraction". Thanks a lot for your time!!! And stay safe! The volunteer host gave us a great tour of the facility and explained the life cycle of salmon and why we have fish hatcheries. We saw the small fry tanks and huge salmon that had just returned from the ocean in another tank. Best of all we got to feed the trout and created a feeding frenzy - they were HUNGRY! Amazing facility. See more..

Years after emerging from its cobbled nest, a salmon returns to that same spot. Hundreds of river miles, thousands in the ocean, 9 dams, out and back, and all the perils in between. Paired now with another, preparing their own nest, a redd, to spawn the next generation. Back, in their home stream. Homestream Park is dedicated to the rivers and fish of the Methow Valley, and to the native people, See more..

  23. 3.5 Pipestone Canyon (4 reviews)
    - Hoodoos. Great Lighting. And, area nicely recovered after 2014 fire
    Biking Trails
Pipestone is a challenge to find the first time, but well worth it. The valley floor offers an easy hike (out and back is best), or for more adventure, hike on the canyon rim, then descend and hike back up the valley. Flowers are amazing in season (April-June). Do watch out for rattlesnakes on the first warm days of spring. I nearly run over about 20 of them once on my mountain bike on a 75 F day in March. That said, nothing to be paranoid about. You do want to see nature don't you? Easy to avoid or go around them, since they're pretty docile early season, just waking up. Winter is a great time to ski or snowshoe in the Canyon. To ski, go right after a snowstorm for best conditions. See more..
