    Fishing Charters & Tours
State of Mind Fishing Charters LLC image
Had a full day of fishing on Flathead Lake with guide, Chris. Everything I had hoped for in a “bucket list” type fishing trip. 1st fish hooked less than one minute after dropping the jig bait down in the morning. 30” x 10# lake trout. 5 minutes later…. 33”x 12# lake trout. Dropped my line in again and it didn’t even hit bottom before I was hooked in to a 39” x 21.3# bad boy. What a blast!!! Had an excellent burger at The Raven for a noon time break and finished out the day catching another handful of lake trout. Fun fun fun!! Thanks for the memories Chris!!! See more..
  2. 5.0 Rock Climb Montana (388 reviews)
    - Great learning experience and rock climbs
Saturday: 7:00 AM - 10:00 PM Climbing Tours
    Rock Climb Montana image
We wanted to try something different and adventurous during our trip to Glacier National and happened upon Rock Climb Montana. We did the half day, afternoon rock climb at Stryker Rock. Since we are not experienced rock climbers, Lee the owner, advised the Stryker location as easier to learn and the opportunity for more climbs from easy to more difficult. Pat was our guide and he helped us with the basics of tying knots, securing our harness, how to position our feet and hands, and how to belay so more than one of us can climb at a time. Soon enough, we were climbing starting with a beginner climb and advancing as Pat choose the appropriate difficulty based on our individual abilities. Pat made sure we all had a fun experience but that we also challenged ourselves. Our family of 4 each had opportunities to climb to our content and he helped us get some great photos of our experience. Plan to include rock climbing with Rock Climb Montana if visiting the Glacier National Area. See more..

Maddy was a wonderful tour guide for an individualized short day of hiking in the Whitefish area. Picked me up at lodging, delivered me at the requested time at tour's end to bus stop. In between she was a font of knowledge about everything we saw on a morning and an afternoon hike, answering my questions and explaining what we saw in an integrated way that combined many subject areas: anthropology, recent and ancient history, ethnobotany, geology, and more. She knows the trails intimately; she knew, for example, exactly where the hornet's nest is located on one of the trails we hiked, and how to traverse that part of the trail to avoid the nest. She pointed out things I'd have overlooked, suggested a lovely spot for the filling lunch the outfitters provided, and maintained a comfortable hiking pace, checking to make sure it was working for this 67-year-old arthritic person. She was engaging, friendly, resourceful, and I recommend her and Whitefish Outfitters unreservedly. On a scale of 1 to 10, Maddy's an 11. See more..

There are several acres totally fenced along with a separate pond area where the dogs can swim! There’s even a doggie shower where the dogs can rinse off after their swim! We come here almost every day as we think our dogs would have us locked up if we didn’t! If you have dog friends, don’t miss this wonderful place! See more..

    Whitefish Mountain Resort image
My family of 4 took the chair lift to the top ($12 one way for each person) and we hiked down the Danny On trail. We did the "shorter" 3.8 mile trail and it was a lot of fun. It was a little steep at the top so I would recommend bringing a hiking stick. It levels off after about a mile and it's a really fun hike going downhill. We started around 1:30 p.m. and the mountain was pretty quiet. It almost felt like we had the mountain to ourselves at times. The view up top was just spectacular. You can the city of Whitefish and Whitefish Lake as you descend down the mountain. The hike wasn't too difficult and it took us about 3 hours to get to the bottom. We made lots of stops along the way to take pictures so that's why it took us a little longer to get down. After we were done, we found out that they do beginner's mountain bike lessons. We would love to try that the next time we're here. See more..

  16. 4.5 City Beach (118 reviews)
    - Warmer water - good cooling off stop
    Spent 2-3 hours Beaches
    City Beach image
We were visiting Glacier National Park for 3 days. Our nieces (10 to 14 years old) wanted to get in the water, but the rivers & lakes were cold in the park. On our 2nd day, we stopped by the city beach for an hour after visiting the ski resort for alpine slides. It was fairly crowded for a Tuesday afternoon. The official beach portion was roped off. I didn't see much "distance" to be had, so we stayed on the right side of the beach, which was much rockier but away from the crowd. We had water shoes & flip flops on (a must have in my opinion, but I'm terrible with walking on rocks). Water was cold but not intolerable. We didn't swim much, simply played around. I recommend this beach for anyone who wants a little water break from hiking. See more..

We saw items with the Whitefish Pottery logo on them when we were in Glacier Nat'l Park and since we knew we would be going to Whitefish to catch the train, we decided to wait and check out the source. I was traveling with two other women and between us, we bought at least 7 pottery pieces. They have a great collection and the prices were better than in the park. See more..

While visiting Whitefish as walked around the city exploring we found this incredible store called “Going to the Sun Gallery”. I saw a squashbloom necklace there that I fell in love with but didn’t buy when we were in the store. We left and moved on with our trip. I couldn’t get it off my mind and called the store and spoke with the owner Rochelle and she made my dreams come true by sending it to me in Florida. The package arrived today and it was packed with love and York mint patties. Wonderful customer service and a beautiful selection of merchandise a not to miss store in Whitefish. See more..

My wife and I stayed at the Pine Lodge and we got a free kayak rental. The back of the hotel was right next to the river so we did a tandem kayak trip up the river to get to Whitefish Lake. It was a fairly easy trip and it took us about 40-min to reach the lake. The trip was very quiet and scenic and we even saw a deer on the way! You pass by a few bridges and it's a fun trip. The retailers welcomed patrons. Friendly knowledgeable staff everywhere. Including the small donation only museum at the Amtrak station sand the delightful broadway series production at the local school on Spokane Ave. We arrive via Amtrak without a car rental due to exorbitant prices for this summer crowds. We did maje use of three local transportation services, S.N.O.W bus free from town to Whitefish Ski resort, Mountain Shuttle service pricey with reservations required and Flathead Valley Transportation also requires advance ticket purchase but low cost. Walkway near town to whitefish lake and second avenue takes you through darling homes to a tiny private airport, dog park and community pool. Loved this walkable town with great restaurants!
