  1. 5.0 Chase Farms (43 reviews)
    - EVERYTHING IS ALWAYS HIGH-QUALITY
    Monday: 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM Farms
    Chase Farms image
Heading for Kennebunkport on Rt. 9 in Wells, I came upon Chase Farms and spotted a nice display of pumpkins around the road sign and in a nearby wagon. I stopped to see what the fall offerings were at the farm. As expected, Chase Farms had all the best of everything from apples and pumpkins to apple cider and apple cider donuts as well as the everyday items, such as vegetables and their own beef and pork. For me, this visit was all about pumpkins. Chase Farms had all sizes. There were conventional orange pumpkins as well as the novelty white pumpkins. I found several I liked. I rate Chase Farms at 5.0 and highly recommend a visit for anything The Chases sell. If you found this review helpful, please click THANK below. See more..

  3. 5.0 R. Jorgensen Antiques (1 review)
    - Impressive collection of aesthetic antiques
Spent < 1 hour Antique Shops
    R. Jorgensen has two floors and an additional back building of magnificent period antiques, most of which date back to the 19th Century and several to the 18th and 17th Centuries, and include American, French, English, Scandinavian, Chinese, and other continental pieces. It's like a museum. The owners are very welcoming, as are their two dogs, one of whom greeted me when I walked in (Julie, the French poodle). The items are expensive, of course -- this isn't your typical flea market down the street -- but they're finely crafted. It's a wonderful inventory and display in a beautiful historic building, whether you're buying or just browsing. See more..
  4. 4.5 Wells Beach (952 reviews)
    - Wells beach in autumn
    Beaches
    Wells Beach image
This review is for an October stay. I cant imagine the summer crowds, as we are retired and enjoy the off season. We stayed at the Lafayette hotel group 3 different times. The beach right outside the door is perfect, the people minimal, our room and ocean view perfect! Be sure to eat at The Steak House. An amazing and critic worthy establishment and a lovely memorable dinner. Sunrises over the ocean here are simply brilliant, and the crisp fall days are spectacular. Wells Diner is a perfect breakfast spot, and the little adjoining gift shop is fun and reasonably priced. Perkins cove is not far, and a walking trail is the best memory accompanying a lobster roll and a blueberry soda. Many book stores, antique shops and fun things to see in this entire area. Each year we discover new beautiful spots to marvel over .Maine in fall is a true travel experience not to be overlooked. See more..

  7. 4.5 Drakes Island Beach (131 reviews)
    - Beautiful seaweed free sandy beach.
    Beaches
    Drakes Island Beach image
If you want an authentic sandy beach with little to no seaweed. No “sea wall” where the tide comes in at 2 pm and you have to leave - this is for you. Parking $5 an hour - cheap compared to other beaches. We were in Kennebunkport and didn’t care for the beaches there. So glad we drive the 15 minutes here. Breathtaking. Not crowded. Wish we had discovered earlier ! See more..
  8. 4.5 Moody Beach (74 reviews)
    - Lovely long walk in November
Spent More than 3 hours Beaches
    Moody Beach image
Absolutely stunning long walk on the beach we didn’t even know about. We started our walk with the Ogunquit beach and continued up to the end of the Moody Beach (total out and back from the Ogunquit Beach parking lot was 5 miles). Moody Beach is mostly private but walking is allowed, so we were grateful for that. The weather was stunning, just unbelievable for November. See more..
  9. 4.5 Merriland Farms Golf Course (62 reviews)
    - Great surprise
    Golf Courses
    Merriland Farms Golf Course image
This was a random decision to locate this place while on vacation in Ogunquit. We were pleasantly surprised at this nice layout and fun spot. We played 18 on this nine hole course. The longest hole was around 120 yards. The greens were in excellent condition and the man in charge was very accommodating. Just a real fun experience for all levels of play. My wife and I both had a birdie which was fun. Some ponds next to holes that received two of my golf balls. Number 7 says 65 yards but you might want to play it at 50.. See more..
  10. 4.5 Spiller Farm (51 reviews)
    - APPLES & PUMPKINS
    Monday: 6:00 AM - 9:00 PM Farms
    Spiller Farm image
Although Spiller Farm has its address on a different street from Spillers’ Farm Store, the farm is diagonally across the road from the store. After lunch at Spillers’ Farm Store, I went over to Spiller Farm where it was partly about apples and mostly all about pumpkins. The rainy growing season had not been kind to a number of pumpkins. Many had a lots of warts on them. But, that didn’t stop people from coming to pick out some pumpkins. While I was looking over the pumpkins already brought over from the pumpkin patch, a woman with three children came along with a cart full of gourds and pumpkins. They went on the scale one by one. Surprisingly, her total was under $25.00. I rate Spiller Farm at 4.50 and can recommend a visit. If you found this review helpful, please click THANK below. See more..
  11. 4.5 Cole's Corner (19 reviews)
    - Girls Day Out
    Monday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Speciality & Gift Shops
    Cole's Corner image
Excellent Shopping Experience! We were greeted when we entered by a friendly and cheerful lady. The place is huge! The shop owner said there are more than 60 vendors now. We loved that there is so many different crafters and antiques. The are good mix of lower priced items, for some of us that have to watch every penny, and some more expensive for those that can spend a bit more. The entire two floors were clean and bright, not like a lot of old barns you might go to. We all came away with a few great buys! Love this place and would definitely recommend going! See more..
  12. 4.5 Reeds Antiques (16 reviews)

    Reeds Antiques image
Reeds is great! We got a beautiful doll this time. Very neat items & we have purchased items here before & will be back again. Next door - different story. No name on building, but part of Wells Union. A VERY rude man told me to "get out" of his shop because he said it was too crowded & I was looking at something on my phone. (I just had it open & was NOT talking or taking pics). what?!? My family was looking at a chair for our cottage in Kennebunkport. Guess who didn't buy the chair! What a way to run someone off! 14. 4.5 Anytime Antiques (2 reviews)
    - Great selection!
Spent 1-2 hours Antique Shops • Flea & Street Markets
    Anytime Antiques image
Anytime Antiques is one of the best antique/vintage stores I've been to, as well as the most organized -- I've never seen a store of this type so well organized, and so clean. They have everything -- furniture, pottery, art, glassware, dishware, lamps, toys, dolls, musical instruments, records, jewelry, lots of bric-a-brac, etc. They have a lot of flea market items, but they're much better quality than the typical flea market stuff. Also lots of nautical items because they're on the seacoast. Prices are extremely reasonable, so reasonable that a lot of items get sold within days. This is one of the best stops on the Post Road antique corridor. See more..

  18. 4.0 Bo-Mar Hall Antiques & Collectibles (2 reviews)
    - INDOOR & OUTDOOR DISPLAYS + AN AUCTION HALL
Monday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Antique Shops
Bo-Mar Hall Antiques & Collectibles image
Bo-Mar Hall Antiques & Collectibles is a huge shop hosting over 100 dealers. The building seems to ramble of forever. It’s a great place wander around and get lost in. On the Saturday afternoon when I visited, there were over a dozen tables set up outside in the parking lot. I browsed several of them. Each seemed to have a specialty. One gentleman had a table with all watches, rings, and other jewelry. His Reg. $10.00 watches were on special at $5.00. One dealer had Shaker boxes and clear glass items. Another dealer had milk glass housewares. Another dealer’s table had all small figurines. It was fun place to browse. All the things I saw were reasonably priced. Bo-Mar also has a separate hall out back for hosting live auctions. Bo-Mar hots a local Farmer’s Market on Wednesdays. I rate Bo-Mar Hall Antiques & Collectibles at 4.50 and highly recommend a visit to those who like antiques and vintage items. If you found this review helpful, please click THANK below. See more..
  19. 4.0 Highpine Baptist Church (1 review)
    - CUTE COUNTRY CHURCH
    Churches & Cathedrals
    Highpine Baptist Church image
Heading toward Sanford on Rt. 109 after visiting Spillers’ Farm and Spillers’ Farm Store in Wells, this cute country church caught my eye. I stopped to view it up close. From its architectural style, it appeared to be a historic church. i guessed it dated from the 1800's. Research revealed otherwise. The original church burned down in the 1980’s; however, the church bell survived the fire. The new church building was built to the right of the original site. For those into architecture, the church is worth a stop. The church takes its name from the Highpine section of Wells where it is located. I rate Highpine Baptist Church at 4.25. 20. 4.0 Congregational Church Of Wells (1 review)
    - PICTURESQUE HISTORIC CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH
Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Churches & Cathedrals
    Congregational Church Of Wells image
Driving on US-1, I came to the Congregational Church of Wells. I’d passed it hundreds of times. I had time to stop to admire it on this trip. It was obviously built sometime in the 1800’s. I did not see a date plaque on the building. A little research revealed that this congregation is the original First Congregational Church in Wells, although today’s location is not the original location. The congregation itself dates back to 1642 when Rev. John Wheelwright and some of his followers moved up from Boston after the Court of Massachusetts ordered him out for preaching Puritan beliefs. The congregation went through a number of changes over the years. Due to differences in beliefs and distances from the original church, several other churches were formed. One was the Second Congregational Church. With help from the historical society, I learned that present church structure was built in 1862. And, after fundraising, the tower, spire, and belfry were added in 1868 – 1869. The front of the church has one window on each side of the center entrance and a third window over the entrance. Each side of the church has three similar windows. They resemble lancet windows. With the pointed top sections, I thought they had a Gothic architectural influence. I was glad that I was photographing the church while the large tree in front of the church had no leaves. I got an unobstructed view for the photo. For its architecture and picturesque setting, I rate the Congregational Church of Wells at 4.25. If you found this review helpful, please click THANK below. See more..
  21. 4.0 Webhanet Marsh Trail (1 review)
    - EASY, SCENIC TRAIL TO THE SALT MARH
    Hiking Trails
    Webhanet Marsh Trail image
The Webhanet Marsh Trail is in a parcel of land adjacent to Wells Harbor Community Park. There are two trails. The first trail went off to the left. Since that was the direction closest to the marsh area, I took that one. The trail was well-groomed. It was hard-packed gravelly sand contained on the sides by a border of boards that worked like retaining walls along the edges of the trail. The trail would easily accommodate a wheelchair. The trail was fairly short ~ about 1/8 of a mile. It ended at an observation area that had railings near the edge of the salt marsh. I thought it was well designed with safety of the disabled and young children in mind. Also, there were some picturesque evergreens along the trail. There was an artist working on an oil painting down closer to the marsh. He was easy to spot through the trees because of the red shirt he was wearing. So, with a trek on this trail and another around Wells Harbor Community Park I got a fair amount of exercise for the day. Both were easy, pleasant walks. As I left, another artist was heading onto the trail with her easel and paint supplies box. For its ease to accommodate trekkers of all skill levels and the disabled as well as its scenic beauty, I rate the Webhanet Marsh Trail at 4.75. 23. 4.0 Wells Plaza (1 review)
    - LARGEST SHOPPING MALL IN THE WELLS AREA
    Shopping Malls
    Wells Plaza image
Wells Plaza has great places for shopping and dining. It is one of the largest shopping malls between York and South Portland. In Maine over a weekend, I shopped at Wells Plaza. Most of my trips to Wells involve a stop at Wells Plaza to shop at three or more stores here. The anchor stores are Hannaford Supermarket and Renys, a department store with competitive prices and the motto “A Maine Adventure.” Other stores include Dollar Tree, Tully’s Beer & Wine, and Wells Fashion Outlet, a great store for souvenir clothing for Maine and New England sports teams as well as fashion at discount prices. This mall has a business in the entertainment sector: Flagship Premium Cinemas. The chairs are power reclining seats. The theater was closed temporarily at the time of my visit. Service businesses include Naviina Salon & Day Spa, Ocean Nails & Spa, Saco Bay Physical Therapy, and Bank of America. Restaurants include Rococo Ice Cream & Test Kitchen, The Bistro at R & R Chocolates, and Pizza Market. Out on US-1 near the plaza entrance is Seacoast Pizza & Pasta. All four are good. But, for pizza, I prefer Seacoast Pizza & Pasta which has a patio for outdoor dining in the better weather. Other businesses bordering the plaza are the Wells Laundermat (their spelling) and Auto Spa Car Wash. On my most-recent visit, I shopped at Renys and got take-out pizza from Seacoast Pizza & Pasta. I usually shop at Wells Fashion Outlet and sometimes Dollar Tree but not on this trip. For the variety of stores, service businesses, restaurants, and a movie theater in the plaza, I rate Wells Plaza at 4.50 and recommend a visit. 24. 4.0 Founders Park (1 review)
    - PARK WITH HISTORIC HOUSE & PiCNIC AREAS
    Historic Sites
    Founders Park image
On vacation in Wells, I stopped by Founders Park one afternoon to see the park’s points of interest. Admission was free. There were several picnic tables in shaded areas around the park and a short walking path. Back from the road was a boulder with a memorial plaque with all the names of the town founders. Nearby was the John Wells House. It was a Cape style home. The plaque on the house indicated that it was built in 1710. It was in good condition for a building that old. There was also a barn that appeared to be of a later period. I rate Founders Park at 4.0. If you found this review helpful, please click THANK below. See more..
  25. 4.0 Storer Garrison State Historic Site (1 review)
    - SMALL STATE HISTORIC SITE ON US ROUTE 1
    Historic Sites
Storer Garrison State Historic Site image
The original Storer Garrison was rebuilt and has since been moved from the original site, but it didn’t go far. Mike McDermott, owner of Mike Clam Shack which is diagonally across US Route 1, bought it and moved it to the back of his parking lot. What remains at the original site is a small park with a commemorative monument adjacent to Garrison Suites Motel & Cottages. There’s a small covered bridge that leads from the motel’s parking lot to the park. The garrison had a role during the French and Indian Wars. I rate the Storer Garrison State Historic Site at 4.0. It’s worth a stop. If you found this review helpful, please click THANK below. See more..
  26. 4.0 Carboni Antiques (1 review)
    - PARK ONCE ~ SHOP SEVEN BUILDINGS FULL OF ANTIQUS
    Spent 2-3 hours Antique Shops
The Wells Union Antique Center was a group of seven buildings. There were different shops there. Park once and shop seven buildings full of antiques! I browsed the second building. It had mostly furniture. The third building had what one usually sees in antiques shops ~ glass, china, jewelry, collectibles, furniture, paintings, etc. A fourth building had a lot of vintage costume jewelry and some accessories such as purses. In the first three shops I visited, I thought that the prices were slightly higher than average. In the small red building that houses Carboni Antiques, there were some nice home furnishings. The prices there were closer to average. Overall, I rate Wells Union Antique Center at 4.0. I can recommend a stop there. If you found this review helpful, please click THANK below. See more..

  28. 3.0 Noel's Antiques (1 review)
    - PRICES NEGOTIABLE
    Antique Shops
Noel’s Antiques was across from the Wells Union Antique Center. He had some nice items in the most-desired categories of glass, china, furniture, and collectibles. He also had a lot of less-common items. The quality of many items was good. There was a sign that said: Make an Offer. So, prices there were negotiable. I found the prices to be about average to start with. . I rate Noel’s Antiques at 3.50. Noel’s Antiques was across from the Wells Union Antique Center. 29. 2.5 Johnson Hall Museum (15 reviews)
    - American Pickers!!!
    Speciality Museums
    Johnson Hall Museum image
We stumbled upon the Johnson Hall Museum on our way through Wells/Kennebunk, and weren't we lucky. There is really no way to describe the vast collection of items in this amazing museum. To meet Mr. Johnson himself is enough of a delight. I can't imagine the reviewer who said that he was unfriendly. Quite the opposite. He was so wonderful that we came back the next day! He even showed us his favorite music box and sang along with it. Mr. Johnson has moved many homes to his property, so do not forget to wander around and look into all of these gems. There is an old filling station, a one room schoolhouse, a sleeping cabin, a shop....it goes on and on. He has been visited and featured by American Pickers, so his museum may now be more of a destination, but we literally found it by chance. Do not pass it by. See more..
