This is a wonderful little art museum! I especially enjoyed the Remington and Gaudens bronze sculptures, the Etruscan pottery, and the works by Andrew Wyeth, Homer, Picasso, and Cassatt. The Alex Katz exhibit was great, too. This was a destination art museum and worth the trip (and the absurd current cost of gas). I was very surprised that there was no entry fee. It's a definite return trip in the near future to see new exhibits and to enjoy the permanent collection once more. See more..

Waterville is an up and coming community, and this new addition is being welcomed with open arms. I visited during one of their “soft openings” and was very pleasantly surprised. The IPA was very smooth and was the best I’ve had in a long time. The location is in the old Hathaway shirt factory, right on the river. It was awesome to see the parking lot full again and a lot of people enjoying the great beer! See more..

Definitely worth visiting these great trails for xc skiing and snowshoeing. Beautifully designed, with great volunteers and snowmaking to ensure reliable skiing all winter. A nice mix of gentle and challenging terrain, and close to both downtown Waterville, Maine and I-95. See more..

This is a cool historic little footbridge! Great views of the river (of course), the nearby train trestle, the park, and some Winslow industrial buildings. Walking on the grates didn't bother me like they bother some other people, although I once had a Springer spaniel who had a phobia about grates and refused to walk on them. The bridge does actually sway a little, enough to give me a tinge of motion sickness, so I didn't go all the way across to Winslow AZ -- I mean Maine! See more..

This is the one place we take friends and family to shop when we're in Maine. Lots of great amazing gifts, in a variety of price ranges. However, this past week, my 11 year old son unfolded ONE t-shirt to see the decal before buying it, and the clerk fussed at him, saying he shouldn't unfold any more because she would have to refold them. He's a good kid, it was 1 shirt, and he was with 2 adults AND his 18 year old sister. She was unkind to a child, and she lost a lotta points for that in our book. See more..

This is Maine's version of Building 19. Why am I putting it on Trip Advisor? Because it will be of interest to travelers who are quilters. Here is a place to find great fabric at low prices - usually 4.99 a yard. when I went a couple of weeks ago there were many shelves of Kaffe Fasset fabric. they could not advertise the brand but it gives you an idea of what you might find. things change rapidly but I always find something I buy. On another note, when visiting Maine I sometimes find I don't have the right clothing for an event from funerals to cold weather. I have found just what I needed in their clothing but I usually only go for the fabric. There is lots of other stuff there from tools to furniture, etc. Good place to wander on a rainy day.
