  1. 5.0 Pinnacles Trail (2 reviews)
    - What a hike!

The flagship trail at Cottonwood Canyon State Park, this trail would be best suited as designated, a bike trail. They even have bikes available at the trailhead. We walked the 4.2 mikes to the Pinnacles. It was extremely hot, around 100. The trail would probably be best in the spring. The features here are pretty spread out, so plan on walking a while without shade or much to see for extended periods of time. If you biked it wouldn't be so bad. The trail is relatively flat and follows an old ranch road. Definitely took lots of pics. This trail might not be for all, it's lightly used, but we really enjoyed the trail. See more..
  2. 4.5 White River Falls State Park (34 reviews)
    - Off the general path fun

Wonderful place to visit not crammed full of tourists. Good view of falls from short path from parking lot but take the time to go down to the old power plant at the bottom. Trail is a tad steep but there are old stairs about half way down that make it easier. Best view of falls is about one third way down. Not too far from the Columbia River gorge area but a dramatic change in scenery! Absolutely worth the drive. See more..
  3. 4.5 Cottonwood Canyon State Park (25 reviews)
    - Have To Go Back
Spent More than 3 hours State Parks
    Cottonwood Canyon State Park image
Cottonwood Canyon is one of Oregon's newer state parks and it is a great one. The park is probably better experienced hiking or on the water. I had done some hiking at the fossil beds earlier in the week and was not quite ready to hike again. I will have to go back and experience the canyon more on foot. The information center was closed, but walking around the old barn with the equipment was really fun. Back behind the barn is a short trail to the river which is fun too. There are trails on both sides of the highway. There is a nice big day use area and if you want to spend the night, there are some cabins and a campground. The park is a bit out of the way, but well worth the effort to go to. I got a nice taste of the park and it was enough to want me to go back for a lot more. See more..
