This little reserve quickly became a favorite during our visit with relatives in Townsend. A variety of trails meander the property for up to 5K, covering woods, riverbank and fields. The conservancy is planting native trees and generally upgrading the place, and the trails are well cut. Some of the trails do get damp though after rains. While people do use it, we never felt crowded at the Reserve, and we went many days. See more..

We stopped by the LifeHouse Church one day since they were hosting the MOT Community Block Party event. Once on location we parked in the HUGE paved parking lot. We then walked over towards the festivities. Here they had several kids games/activities set up in addition to FREE food tents. Kids each got a Carnival Games card which consisted of 6 separate games. Kids went around to each game: Duck Pond, Ring Toss, Ball Toss, Lawn Bowiling, Hole in One (golf) and Knock'em Down. Here the game operators recorded their scores. Once they completed the activities, they took their game cards up to the prize tent. Here they could use the points that they WON playing the games to trade in for FREE prizes. Kids had so much fun doing these simple "backyard" games. Staff were all friendly and encouraging the kids to have a good time. The guy at the Lawn Bowling was funny and just awesome with the kids! After playing the games and collecting their prizes, kids wanted to visit the hair styling tent. Here the kids could choose various temporary hair color/glitters and the "stylists" would do their hair for them. The volunteer stylists were mostly kids in their tweens, which seemed to work out well. After getting some pink and glitter added to our hair, we decided to head on over to the inflatables area. Here they had around 3 inflatable bounce houses/slides set up. Kids had fun bouncing in them. After bouncing and sliding, we tried to visit the carnival foods tent, but it was SOLD OUT of cotton candy, popcorn and sno cones. We did stop by the food tent as well where we were given FREE hot dogs, bottled water and bagged chips. Overall, we enjoyed the Community Block Party event hosted by LifeHouse Church. Kids had lots of fun playing the games, bouncing on the inflatables and filling their bellies! I look forward to this event next year. See more..
