  3. 5.0 Outlaw Trail Ride (4 reviews)
    - Outlaw Trail Ride 2011
    Horseback Riding Tours
    Outlaw Trail Ride image
My husband and I did the OTR last August. We are from MN and most of our riding is on wooded trailers, up and down but not real steep. We so enjoyed the open country of Wyoming as a change in riding - also the hills are much, much steeper! The trail bosses, drag rider, and camp crew could not have been nicer. And the food - lets just say no one, even the horses lost weight on this trip! Every evening we had land owners or someone who talked to us about the history of the ride and the land, never dull. You meet so many new people, making lasting friendships with some, and riders come from all over the country. Would we do it again - YES - did we have a great time - YES - would we recommend it to others - YES - we do all the time. Just go ready to ride, you are in the saddle by 8am every morning. See more..

Owl Creek Flies & Guide Service image
This was my first time fly fishing. My husband loves it and has always dreamed of fishing the Big Horn River. We had the best time! It was windy and cold but we were prepared with wearing layers. Analese, not sure if I spelled her name right, she was great. She taught me all kinds of stuff about fly fishing. She would paddle back several times through an area where we were getting bites or catching fish. She had a wonderful lunch and snacks for us. She even took the time for us to watch a mink hunting on the river bank. Would highly recommend them as guides! See more..

The speed limit is 65 mph with a few curves requiring one to slow down, there are numerous pull-out areas allowing travelers to take in its beauty and take pictures. Just north of the canyon is the town of Thermopolis which is home to 3 natural hot spring swimming pools and a dinosaur museum that offers visitors a chance to dig for bones. Belly up to the original bar where outlaws from the Hole-In-The-Wall gang once sat, including the infamous Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid! Though spirits are no longer served to patrons, it is a great place to sit and imagine the sights, sounds and smells that once surrounded this icon from the past. Walk through an old town setting where you can peer through the doors and windows of an old general store, doctor & dentist offices, a reconstructed jail, a newspaper & print shop, barber shop and much more. Explore one of the largest Indian artifact collections in Wyoming. The museum also houses several prehistoric artifacts and an amazing display of rocks & minerals. This history of Hot Springs County would not be complete without honoring our veterans. We have cases full of artifacts from area soldiers who served in several conflicts over the years.
