   Visited 10.16.2021. If staying in Sumpter, the Dredge is an easy walk from lodging. The usual mechanical items are there but the real pleasure was a dawn visit to the walking paths beyond the old equipment 'graveyard'. After crossing over a footbridge, one can get a panoramic view of mountains, free flowing river and peacefulness of a rural setting. Fall colors were in full force. Easy, flat, gravel covered paths. The Dredge itself is decorated for a Halloween Haunted House. A great space for that type of event. See more..

   We did one of the train robberies It’s very simple, yet entertaining! The actors are all volunteers and they are bunch of fun, totally recommend. One thing you must remember is that this area was run through by what is known as a Dredge so there is a bunch up turned up ground an rocks. The mountains are beautiful and it may be a simple setting and a short trip but it’s worth the your while. The train is old an authentic, the money they make off tickets is used to keep the train running an open for people to enjoy. I took a group of my friends with me here an we had such an amazing the time! One of the actors gave us a little gift an we joked around with the people a lot. Note: if you do the train robberies they are shooting shot guns an pistols so just be prepared cause they are loud lol. See more..
