I stopped in here for the first time to go for a fall hike over the weekend. There were a few trails you could take and they were all extremely well marked and took you through various parts of the woods. There were some views but you definitely would want to come once all the leaves fell off the trees to see better. There was good parking, maps now and then, and free to get in for CT residents. You can't ride bikes on the trails here, something to keep in mind. See more..

Absolutely gorgeous sunny day for my visit. Saw several mature and juvenile eagles soaring overhead against the bright blue sky. Just beautiful! Had my binoculars but got better views of perched eagles through the scopes the sharp eyed and knowledgeable volunteers set up. A raptor handler from the Audubon society did presentations with various species of owls. It was a great way to spend a few hours! Dress warmly if you go and make a reservation. See more..

Southbury Dog Park is a beautiful 14-acre off-leash park with open fields, hiking trails, a crystalline river, plenty of poopy-bags, and a fenced-in area for small dogs. We are a friendly place open to all. Located on property owned by O&G Industries, look for the entrance to O&G at 236 Roxbury Road, Southbury. The dog park is about 200 yards down the road to O&G. The course is beautiful and the fairways and greens are manicured. Dave and Tom are friendly and if you don’t make a tee time they will get you in relatively easy. I recommend this highly and the blue tees will definitely give you a challenge on the par 5, 7th hole. I always have a great relaxing time, regardless of how I play. See more..

I literally stumbled upon this location for a walk during lunchtime. Set in the thick woods, there was a main well sculpted pathway with small offshoots —With the recent storms, there was a lot of debris In the woods themselves however, the walkways have been cleared for the most part and in some of the lower lying moist areas wooden plank type walkways have been prepared to keep the traveler dry. The peaceful walk is less than a mile until you hit the beautiful Lake Lillinonah — evidence of campers/campfires remain with a small amount of trash unfortunately left as evidence. Several hills with large boulders and stonewalls winding throughout the property keep things interesting. Great for a quick getaway stroll. See more..
  11. 4.5 Gainfield Farms Golf Course (2 reviews)
    - Nice little course, very friendly and helpful staff
Thursday: 7:00 AM - 8:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Golf Courses
Nine hole course, mostly par-3's with one par-4 where you need to hit over a pond. Lengths of par 3's range from 90 to 190 yards. Staff keeps the course in good shape. Some greens are tricky. All staff including club pro Greg are very friendly and accommodating. They occasionally host special events. I've always been able to get off without any problem, although you can reserve a tee time by calling them. Great value for 9 holes. See more..
