We had an amazing time with Snowmass Creek Outfitters. The staff here know their stuff. We are beginner riders and they made sure we were comfortable safe and were having a great time. Our guide was very knowledgeable she explained the history of the land, pointed out relevant landmarks and was just the most genuine, friendly person. She really made our experience so much more enjoyable with the level of her knowledge! We learned about irrigation, horses, weather conditions and local hiking spots, elevation and mountains in the area. Our horses (Scar and Yamika) were very well trained and they know what is expected of them. They seem to like working. I was so impressed at how well they took to the mountain side. It was obvious they are seasoned pros or as they are otherwise known as the “Cadillac’s” of the group! Thank you for taking the time to show us your special part of the world in Snowmass. This is a must do experience if you visit Aspen! My wife is normally scared of heights but absolutely loved the hot air balloon experience. It was a very peaceful and enjoyable experience. If you are looking for a great place to ski alone, with some friends or a family Snow Mass has it all. If I was with friends or alone I would likely spend more time in Aspen, or even go to Vail for the restaurants and night life. But if you are a family or just want to focus on location skiing and still places to go, I would try Snow Mass. Everything for good skiing and drinks after are there, but not a great night life. I'd prefer Vail. But Snow mass is a fantastic place to bring your family. Any age, any ability. Highly recommend Snow Mass for a great family ski vacation. See more..

We hiked Spiral Point via the Rim Ridge trail on our first morning. It was beautiful! I am surprised it wasn't as popular, we passed maybe a few hikers on the way and had the top to ourselves. I was dealing with some mountain sickness due to the elevation so it was a bit more difficult due to that, but normally would not be a hard hike at all. Around ~800 feet in elevation gain over 1.3 miles (2.6 RT). Lots of switchbacks made it easier. Gorgeous wildflowers all over the place and beautiful views. Watch out for snakes because we passed several. The trail itself is very exposed, it got hot fast, definitely needed a hat! Great hike, not a ton of effort for a gorgeous view. See more..

This was a super fun event! Just a few tips for others - arrive EARLY! We arrived an hour before and the parking lot was already full. We were told where to go and parked somewhere else. Another tip - eat dinner before! The line for food was very long, seating was tight and difficult to get. We sure were glad we ate before. It was a really fun night with lots of entertainment and you really did not get cheated for cowboys, horses and bull riding. Great opportunity for photos too. See more..

Aspen Sports is home to Jack Rafferty, one of the original Masterfit University staff. It has been said, "When Jack gives you the boot, it fits." I don't have the worst feet, but, with a bunion the size of Aspen Highlands on one foot and the other foot a half size larger, I never before had a pair of ski boots that fit perfectly. Over the course of several days of skiing, Jack built perfect orthotics and stretched, pushed, ground, and adjusted the shells to address every area of concern. (With my feet, it takes time skiing to note and address each spot.) The result, zero pain in either foot AND a fit that transfers edge-to-edge power as if my skis were extensions of my feet and the boot was just there to keep the snow from between my toes. The shop also has some very knowledgeable younger staff, like Jeffery who helped both my wife and me to find the boots that were the base upon which Jack built the orthotics. See more..

Stayed there with a group this January, 2013. The place has just re-opened this season after a major renovation. The location is as good as it gets, true ski in ski out and you can also walk straight to the snowmass mall with a a range of restaurants etc. This also gives access to the shuttle bus that takes you to the other Aspen mountains [Aspen Highlands, Aspen Mountain and Buttermilk]. It's about a 15 minute bus trip to these. Depending on the time you leave the bus to Highlands may need a change. But to ski Snowmass [great mountain] it's superbly positioned. The rooms were nice and new. Hotel still had some teething problems with 2 x false fire alarms during the week and the restaurants could have run smoother but overall a good place to stay. See more..
