  2. 5.0 Vance Creek Railriders (16 reviews)
    - A fun experience and a great workout!
    Nature & Wildlife Tours
    Vance Creek Railriders image
My wife and I detoured off the course a bit to give this a try as we were driving through the area. Our guide that rode with us (Hannah) was a lot of fun and she helped us pedal the cart. The first half is almost all downhill and pretty easy pedaling, the second half is uphill most of the way. They have a cart that can push you up the incline if you get tired, so you don’t have to be in great shape to enjoy this. I would equate it to pedaling a bike in top gear, though the more your other riders are pulling their weigh the easier it is on everyone. Again that was only on the second half and only because we pedaled without using the push carts assistance. It was a fun and worthwhile adventure to do something unique! See more..

I was visiting in the area, near Mason Lake, and asked where I could get some good fresh oysters, on my way home to Portland. I got their name, and was delighted to get 2 different kinds of oysters at a good price, and they were delicious. Will probably stop there again, next time I'm in the area See more..
  4. 5.0 Jarrell's Cove Marina (7 reviews)
    - Living At The Marina
    Spent 2-3 hours Marinas
    Jarrell's Cove Marina image
I am writing this from a different point of view---as of June 2017, I moved into one of the apartments available at the marina. It's great living here! So peaceful, quiet, and beautiful here---the summer brings tourists and campers who use Jarrell's Cove as the start of a wonderful vacation, often mooring their boats out in the Cove or at the marina. There are unexpected amenities here, like the marina store, which is open from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, run by an efficient and friendly management team; a number of picnic tables are equipped with BBQ stations for those cooking their own steaks; there are clean restroom facilities and even a small laundry room for guests and residents alike. Across the Cove is the Jarrell's Cove State Park, easily accessible by boat (there is a dock across the Cove) or by taking a short drive around the Cove. Running low on gas? The marina dock has fuel for boats, and there are two pumps out by the Marina store, whose supplies include Cove/Marina specific labelled T-shirts and sweat shirts. Traveling with an RV or trailer? The marina has space to accommodate several RVs, although reservations are suggested to guarantee a space during the busy summer season. It's great the whole year around at the Cove. The heavily wooded area stays cool in the summer (I never even had to turn on a fan all summer), and the fall and winter offer picturesque scenery. Come visit Jarrell's Cove Marina. You'll enjoy dropping by as much as I love living here See more..

  7. 4.5 Jarrell Cove State Park (30 reviews)
    - Best camping experience of my life!
    State Parks • Parks
    Jarrell Cove State Park image
I have gone camping ever since I was a little girl, with the Girl Scouts, my family, in college, etc. and this is by far the best camping experience of my life. Jarrell Cove and Harstine Island are gorgeous. We had kayaks delivered by Hood Canal Rentals and spent our days kayaking and hiking around the natural beauty. Our camp hosts, who are volunteer rangers, were lovely people. Glenn and his wife brought us blackberry leaves from the bushes and checked on us every evening. They ensured that the camp grounds clean, well run, and safe for families. I felt safe camping there as a woman. The facilities are great. The bathroom is clean with flush toilets and a hot shower. The campsites are well spaced, and the entire scenery is beautiful. My favorite memory is a feeding a Mama Deer and her little fawn apples from the apple trees that grow on the campground. This place is like heaven on earth and I am going to try to go back every year, if possible. See more..

  9. 4.5 Skyline Drive-In (14 reviews)
    - An Old Treasure
    Movie Theaters
    Skyline Drive-In image
Treat yourself and family and go kick back a few years in time and enjoy a couple movies while camping in the back of your pickup truck. Get yourself a blow up mattress and plenty of blankets and pillows and enjoy the show. The snack bar is fairly plain but the prices are better than the indoor theaters around here. Plus if you're a smoker you're already outside so who cares. We take an extra battery powered radio just to make sure everyone hears the audio. I've been going to the Skyline since I can remember and we should support this landmark. There's not very many Drive-ins left in our country and it would be sad to see them all go under. But we can keep ours if you patronize this long lived establishment that for so long has been part of our Shelton. It's a real Family Friendly place and a great way to spend a weekend night. 10. 4.5 Walter Dacon Winery (13 reviews)
    - Small and quaint
    Monday: Wineries & Vineyards
    Walter Dacon Winery image
Passed by this winery on our way to Shelton to check out some lake property and thought let’s just stop by. What a pleasant surprise! It’s a small and quaint little winery. Once parked you are immediately greeted by the winery’s official greeter, Beau, a super chill labradoodle. Wine tasting is complimentary and there are patio seating, so pack a lunch and buy a bottle or two and just hang out. Pinot Gris was refreshing on a hot day that I bought 2 bottles to take home. 12. 4.5 The Ridge Motorsport Park (11 reviews)
    - Safe place to learn what may save your life
    Auto Racing Tracks
    The Ridge Motorsport Park image
So, having a GSXR-1100 (fast motorcycle) and the confidence of Wings of Gold gives one all the ingredients to make an underdone “Interstate Burger”. The Ridge and it’s cadre of professional instructors is the antidote. Nothing worse than aggressively acting with undeserved confidence. Underestimating your opponent, if you will. Second worse is having the tools to win, but being ignorant of the availability and proper use of those tools. The Ridge is the place to come and fill the knowledge gap that could very well save your life or the life of your “bulletproof” kid. It is also a great place to have fun with friends and family that ride. OPRT, TrackTime, MotoVixens, and others host track days. California Super Bike, Team Yamaha, and WMST all run classes from there. The hosts will all have instructors available as well. The lethal distracted are the majority. If you are on two wheels, get trained to counter the threat. Highly recommended! See more..

Having driven by several times, I finally decided to stop and explore what Potlatch State park had to offer... It's an unbelievable place that's just off of Hwy 101 with beautiful views of Hood Canal. Was only there for less than an hour and it was very tranquil and serene as I stood there along the bank just enjoying the moment. If you are out driving around and need to gather your thoughts, consider stopping by to enjoy. See more..
  17. 3.5 Little Creek Casino (194 reviews)

The room was a deluxe non-smoking king bed. Beautiful and clean! The bed was firm, just right for me. To much for the hubby. There was a chair and a desk chair but no table to set at and have our in room coffee. And no microwave. Have to ask for a super deluxe for a table chairs and microwave. The k cup coffee profided was Tullys. But the little creamers were more of a cheap ass whitener. Nasty. I suggest you hit the island grill before they close and ask them for some real creamer. Or get an Americano at the espresso stand in the lobby. It was $8.for 2 lg. But it was awesome coffee! Wonderful stay. The coffee/creamer, no microwave and no table and chair are the reason I didn't give 5 stars. We had breakfast at island grill. Very good. Coffee was just o.k. Probably because the espresso stand coffee was so good. Lol. We had Bloody Marias and nachos at the sports bar/Mexican tequila bar. Very good! See more..
