- 4.5 Nearest Green Distillery (49 reviews)
-When visiting Nashville put this distillery on your tour list.
Day Trips
I was totally amazed with the presentations from the tour guides on learning the history of Uncle Nearest Green aka Nathan Green who was a slave and than became a free slave. I am a wine drinker but, I was amazed to learn that Uncle Nearest is the first known African-American master distiller and helped put Jack Daniel whiskey on the map. I appreciate how Fawn Weaver brought the story of Nearest Green whiskey to the light for the world to taste and learn. It's good that the truth has found the light. See more..
- 4.5 Shelbyville Recreation Center (20 reviews)
-Great rec center and park
Game & Entertainment Centers
Considering the size of the town, the Shelbyville Recreation Center and Park are pretty great! The rec center building has gyms, a walking track, fitness/weightlifting room, ping pong, rooms to rent, racquetball, an indoor pool, and outdoor pool. The outside park area has playgrounds, disc golf course, softball, baseball, tennis courts, a walking track, and plenty of open spaces. They also have a great fireworks display on July 4th. - 4.0 Fisherman's Park Dam (18 reviews)
-A very popular spot to cool off
Dams
Fisherman's Park Dam was very crowded on the day that we visited. Lots of families were at the "beach" area swimming or taking a dip, despite the warning about the swiftness of the water. Others were sitting on top of the damn suntanning and relaxing. What a picturesque location. I can see why it's such a popular place in the summer. See more..
