- 5.0 Saratoga Chocolates (5 reviews)
-Learn How to Make Truffles or Experience the Chocolatier's Art
Spent < 1 hour Speciality & Gift Shops
I'm always amazed when I go into this small shop and view the exquisite chocolate confections behind the glass. Each dipped, molded, decorated ganach or fondant should have it's own curtain call and encore...this is where you experience the chocolatier's art. Gerald McLane, Saratoga Chocolate's resident chocolatier says that when he wants to relax after hours at home...he creates more!). Here you find the Cartier diamonds of chocolate. Most of us won't go home with a two pound box, but consider dazzling your loved one with a selected few. Or learn how to make truffles in one of their classes. There are two guaranteed favorites that you can tuck into a picnic basket, Christmas stocking or savor during or after a nearby concert: pecan caramel turtles ($3.75) or a mini stack of C.A.T. Squares (caramel, almond, toffee and sea salt). There is parking behind the stores and limited on street parking. It fills up fast on weekends. See more..
- 5.0 Mount Eden Vineyards (4 reviews)
-Fantastic Experience
Wineries & Vineyards
Mount Eden Vineyards is a small historic wine estate perched at 2000 feet overlooking Silicon Valley, in the Santa Cruz Mountain Appellation, about 50 miles south of San Francisco. Founded in 1945, it is recognized as one of the original "boutique" California winery properties, focusing on small lots of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. Mount Eden's lineage of estate bottled Chardonnay and Pinot Noir is the longest in California. Planted in austere, infertile Franciscan shale on a cool, exposed mountaintop, these low-yielding estate vineyards have consistently produced world-class wines for over a half-century. In 2007 Mount Eden acquired an additional 55 acre wine estate in the Saratoga foothills, which was christened Domaine Eden. Mount Eden Vineyards also produces non-estate Chardonnays from the central coast, primarily Edna Valley. They have great success making Chardonnay from the Wolff Vineyard and are continually recognized as making outstanding wines from that region. Since 1981 Jeffrey Patterson has guided the winemaking and grape growing at Mount Eden. His emphasis is on wine growing rather than winemaking; and an obsession with gentleness and naturalness in the handling of the grapes and wines is his ongoing passion. See more..
- 5.0 Float Realm (2 reviews)
-Best. Float. Ever.
Friday: 10:00 AM - 9:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Spas
Floatation therapy otherwise known as REST (Restricted Environmental Stimulation Therapy) is a holistic way to heal the mind and body. Unlike getting a massage, doing yoga, or even sleeping on a comfortable bed, floating is a unique experience of it’s own. The buoyancy created by the salt to water ratio creates an “anti-gravity” environment allows you to float effortlessly. See more..

- 4.5 The Mountain Winery (315 reviews)
-Beautiful views
Friday: 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM Wineries & Vineyards • Theatre & Performances
We had never even heard of this winery until we decided to stay at the Inn at Saratoga. The road up the hill is winding but the views of the valley are well worth it. They have picnic tables near the parking lot but you can’t quite see the valley from the benches. They hosted over 70 big name concerts last year at their amphitheater. The wine tasting area is well designed and the sofas and chairs outside the room look very inviting for a nice glass of wine. The reason I only gave them 4 stars is our wine tasting experience. Our goal was to grab a bottle of wine and have a picnic. When we mentioned we were interested in a bottle of one of their sweeter white wines, our host began lecturing us “look, there are over 1100 different types of grapes... and “basically you two are idiots for not expanding your palates to our wines starting at $46/bottle”. That attitude I can do without. See more..

- 4.5 Fremont Older Open Space Preserve (47 reviews)
-Tough hike
Nature & Wildlife Areas
This hike nearly killed me. First of all, start it early. We made the mistake of starting on the trail after 5 pm. We made it to the top before 7 but coming back down we were running to try to get back before dark. I consider myself in pretty good shape (59 years old) but the two 20 year olds I was with were clearly in much better shape than I and so I slowed them down considerably. Once at the top, though, there are some magnificent views to enjoy! See more..

Located in the foothills above Saratoga, the vines capitalize on the sunny days, moderate nights, and long growing season of the Santa Cruz Mountains. - 4.5 House Family Vineyards (19 reviews)
-New favorite weekend picnic spot
Spent 1-2 hours Wineries & Vineyards
My husband and I came here on a Sunday afternoon and loved the atmosphere here. The tasting room has beautiful views with plenty of tables and chairs overlooking the view. We purchased a small cheese plate here, but plenty of people brought a picnic from home too. When visiting here, be aware that it is a roughly quarter mile walk from the parking area to the tasting area through the vineyard and so highly recommend wearing comfortable shoes. We cannot wait to be back! See more..

- 4.0 Hakone Gardens (229 reviews)
-Beautiful Japanese Garden
Friday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Gardens
Took the family here because we were looking to do something different. You pay the entrance fee at the shop across from the entrance. We ended up paying $75 for the membership because we live close by and it pays for itself in 3 trips (we have been twice so far). The grounds are beautiful with a variety of plants, trees and flowers. The paths are very well shaded and there are stairs as there are multiple elevations. It’s not big as the one in SF but better maintained than the one on SJ. It was just the right size and had enough to capture the interest of our girls (5 & 7) for ~1 hour. Its very relaxing and a great place to take pictures. See more..

- 4.0 Wildwood Park (15 reviews)
-Nice Neighborhood Park
Spent 1-2 hours Parks • Playgrounds
Our family has been to this park a number of times. It is located very near downtown Saratoga. There is a large grassy area, a really nice play area for the kids, bathrooms, and a creek that flows through the edge of the park. All the times we have been there it has been clean and not too crowded. There is also a section with picnic tables and a volleyball court. It's not a large park but it's got a lot to offer. The only downside is that it has a very small parking lot so you may have to park on the street or in a nearby parking lot. There is a warning sign about the bacteria levels in the creek so be careful if the little ones interact with the water. See more..
- 4.0 Saratoga Quarry Park (8 reviews)

- 4.0 Saratoga Gap Trail (1 review)
-Great for me cause it's close to home
Hiking Trails
great for you because it gives you a stretch through a shady redwood canopy and then over to the ocean side of Skyline where you can have views out the to Pacific with Big Basin down below. I've biked and ran these trails countless times. Even brought the dog with me on days when it's empty - fyi dogs aren't allowed and you should always keep them leashed and pick up after them should you ignore the law. Speaking of the law, one day I did receive a ticket for not having my bike helmet on - I simply forgot and next time I won't be so accomodating to let Mr. Ranger walk a hundred yards my way to write me a ticket.
