    Lake Pend Oreille Cruises image
Beautiful Lake Pend Orielle cruise, was able to spot some eagle nests and an couple eagles on the tour and ended with an interesting lake history. The tour group was the right size were it wasn't too many people with snacks and full bar available. Our daughter's favorite part was helping the captain steer the boat. Overall well worth the price and would recommend the tour. See more..
  9. 4.5 Sandpoint City Beach (155 reviews)
    - Even Early March Visit is Beautiful!
Spent 1-2 hours Bodies of Water • Beaches
    Sandpoint City Beach image
Hubby & I traveled from Spokane, WA to Eureka, MT and drove through Sandpoint on our way. We noticed the sign for City Beach and drove to it to find a nice sized park along the northwestern part of Lake Pend Oreille. This time of year, the water level is very low and you can see how docks have been hoisted high out of the water! You also see the water level stains on the shore. We noticed several benches and a swing set and tennis courts. The mountains to the east are so beautiful. We lucked out and were there on a blue sky, sunny day so the water was super blue and the snow on the mountain tops in the distance was beaming! There is a long paved path to walk, run, bike, etc. There is sand on the beach! We didn't have to pay to enter and could park right there. We did not use the facilities. You can easily walk to this park from the downtown shopping and eating businesses. ! See more..

  13. 4.5 Bonner County History Museum (20 reviews)
    - Excellent small town/county museum
Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours History Museums
    Bonner County History Museum image
Like all small museums, there is some inconsistency in presentation and curation because there is never enough person-power to research everything required to provide explanations of just how some of the tools and trappings on display fit into life in the past, but this place does way better than most. You can learn a lot here. Only a small percentage of their collection is on display at any one time, and they change the displays twice a year; an ambitious undertaking to be sure. One could spend a full day here without fully seeing all that is on display. Nearly all of it interesting, About as professional a small, rural museum as we've seen. See more..

    - Beautiful Stretch Of North Idaho
    Spent 1-2 hours Scenic Drives
    Pend Oreille Scenic Byway image
Highway 200 in Idaho is a great scenic byway. Most of it passes by the north end of Lake Pend Oreille before getting to the Clark Fork River Valley. Lots of scenic pullouts and parks to stop at. There are a few small towns to get through before getting to the Montana state line. Sam Owen campground and Cabinet Gorge are 2 of the best places to stop along the way. This is the first time I had been in this part of Northern Idaho and am glad I went. It is a very beautiful stretch of road. See more..

    Mineral Point Trail 82 image
Secluded, peaceful, and breathtaking beach area near campground. Stunning views from above and below. 4 wheel drive recommended. The road to get there is a narrow service rocky/dirt road. Small space to park. Worth the drive that feels to nowhere. Water temp was chill but tolerable. See more..

  21. 4.5 Serenity Lee Trail (2 reviews)
    - Beautiful Lake Scenery Accessible to Everyone
    Spent 1-2 hours Hiking Trails
    Serenity Lee Trail image
This paved multi-use trail follows US95 for about 5 miles between Sandpoint and Sagle. Two miles of the trail is elevated on the "pedestrian long bridge" across the Pend Oreille River, offering wonderful views of the river and Lake Pend Oreille. We visited in July and parked at City Beach in downtown Sandpoint, then we ate lunch at one of the cafes on 1st Ave. Next we walked to the trail head behind the Bonner County Courthouse (215 S. 1st Ave.). The trail begins next to a historic power house. We then followed the trail south onto a peninsula and the US95 bridge. The paved surface is wide and suitable for bicycles, wheelchairs, strollers, etc. Some educational signs along the way explain the geography of the area. There are even a couple of local bicycle shops in Sandpoint where you can rent a bike if you don't have your own; inquire at Greasy Fingers on N. 3rd Ave. See more..

    - Fun Little Shops

Cedar Street Bridge Public Market image
There are a number of fun shops here and an area designed for kids to explore and create, which seems to have been included based on donations. We went on a Tuesday and unfortunately about 1/3 of the shops were closed including the candy store and olive oil shop. Still enjoyed our time and loved the picked foods store upstairs. They even have samples. Also nice clean restrooms on the second floor as well. See more..

  28. 3.0 Northern Idaho Native Plant Arboretum (1 review)
    - Your experience depends on the wind
    Gardens
It's a short pathway through labeled native trees and bushes, situated next to a museum that's hardly ever open. It's interesting and informative. There are a few spots that aren't maintained well. Unfortunately it's also right next to a wastewater treatment plant that stinks. When it's hot and the wind's blowing in the wrong direction, the smell can be overpowering to the experience. It's free, though, and shaded, and you can always go back. See more..
