Everything was take care of. Travel arrangements were super easy. The guides were excellent - fun, experienced and helpful - and the food was extraordinarily good. They set up camp, loaded and unloaded the rafts, cooked, guiding the boats, led hikes, helped the novice kayakers and fly fishermen, and made it all look easy. This was a stellar experience, in nature, completely unplugged, spending time with old friends and making new friends. IRJ is a first-class operation. See more..

Rafting on a wilderness River was a bucket list item for me. Rafting with ASV on the Middle Fork of the Salmon river exceeded my expectations many times over. Brad, Diana, and the rest of the crew made the whole experience a pleasure. Working with Diana to make the arrangements was a breeze, even though our group grew from 2 to 6, just days before departing. On the river the rafting was exciting, and the scenery unbelievably beautiful. The Pampered Camping was awesome. The food prepared by the guides, was excellent. Three hot meals a day, plus appetizers. Tents with cots sleeping bags and pillows were set up when we arrived at camp each night. And, a big circle of camp chairs for games and conversation (Brad is a great story teller). I hope to do this again, and when I do I will go with Adventure Sun Valley. See more..

    Helfrich River Outfitters image
My 14yr old son, my father, and a good friend took a 4 day trip down the Rogue River. The guides were professional every second and were welcoming to everyone. Every day we stopped for lunch at a beautiful riverside campsite. Food, tables, and chairs were always set up before we arrived. We fished and rode rapids throughout the day. Guides stopped along the way to show us wildlife, waterfalls, and amazing views. Every night we stayed at a different lodge. We stayed in warm cabins with comfortable beds, hot water, showers, toilets, etc. Every night we were greeted with amazing drinks and dinners. I have taken countless trips with the Helfrich group over the last 20 years and each one is better than the last and creates lifelong memories and new friends. This is an experience you cannot get somewhere else and you will not regret. I highly recommend using the Helfrich River Outfitters guide service! See more..
  5. 5.0 Salmon River Scenic Byway (59 reviews)
    - Incredible nature,!
    Scenic Drives
    Salmon River Scenic Byway image
May 8/19 - we drove up from Boise through Horshoe Bend, Banks and then turning right onto the famous trail from Banks to Lowman, and then on through Stanley, Challis and to Salmon. A truly spectacular drive, winding up and down along the river. (winter driving must present an interesting challenge, I would think!). Magnificent scenery all around, good roads throughout, not much traffic, truly a drive to enjoy at a leasurely pace, and "smell the roses" on the way. We took about seven hours for the drive - but were moving at a leasurely pace, stopping often to admire nature's handiwork, and some food in Stanley. Loved the drive - can recommend. See more..

    - Unparalleled experience with fantastic guides

Fantastic experience. We took a family trip with nine of “the boys” on a 3 day excursion. Everett, Jazz, and Zack are wonderful guides who fit right into our group and became part of the family. They went out of the way to make everyone from age 16 to 73 feel comfortable. The food was unbelievable with cheese and wine plates and salmon and steak…well above what our group of knuckledraggers was used to. The fishing was only okay but we were able to catch and release some every day. I recommend including the inflatable kayaks as they added a new dimension to the rapids and we were able to all try them at some point. I highly recommend going with these guys on any trip and only wish we would have done a longer one. We’ll be back next year. See more..
  7. 5.0 Middle Fork Adventures (45 reviews)
    - Amazing Adventure in the Wilderness of No Return
    Multi-day Tours • River Rafting & Tubing • Hiking & Camping Tours • Nature & Wildlife Tours • Kayaking & Canoeing
    Middle Fork Adventures image
Amazing trip! What a wonderful experience for our family! There were eight guides for 22 of us and they were each so experienced and hard working, always polite and gracious with smiles on their faces. They did it all--guide, row the oar boats, supervise the paddle boat and kayaks, gave casting and fishing lessons, rescued another company's stuck "sweep" boat, pitched tents, cooked gourmet meals, played the guitar, threw horseshoes, and created a fabulous obstacle course game at camp one night. Allie was our trip guide and was superbly well prepared and experienced-easygoing but underneath, you knew she had it all under control. Would highly recommend this trip if you are looking for a rafting trip in the wilderness! See more..

The rafting trip on the Salmon River was so much fun! We had 3 guides two of which were in boats and the 3rd drove ahead and made us a delicious lunch of grilled chicken, salad, and potato salad. We had homemade granola bars and blueberry cake, thank you Kathy! The river was low but it was still a lot of fun and relaxing. The boat guides were very interesting sharing information about the river and the area along the river which were old gold mines. We highly recommend this company! See more..

    Aggipah River Trips image
My family (2 adults/5 teens) just returned from a 6 day/5 night Main Salmon trip with the Aggipah crew. We initially prioritized a local company with an established reputation and knowledge of the river/area. There are numerous reviews below that go into great detail describing the awesome food, fun inflatable kayak availability and comfortable tents/campsites that are all included with an Aggipah trip. Just like everyone else already said, we also truly had the trip of a lifetime. Stephanie and Bill answered all our questions beforehand and have an immeasurable amount of local knowledge that they share throughout the week. Everything from the initial communication to the travel transfers went seamlessly. Each guide had something different to offer, and all were 100% top notch (Thanks Brian, Graham, Jamie and Sidney!). We've been home less than 48 hours and are already working on planning a Middle Fork trip for Summer 2022 - Thanks Aggipah!! See more..

Our whitewater experience exceeded our expectations in every way. Matt and Adrienne were personable and attentive to our needs. We liked making an early start, because we felt like we had the river to ourselves despite the holiday weekend. The views were spectacular. Marty served a delicious lunch of steak, baked potato, salad, and watermelon. It was an A+ experience from start to finish. We would definitely do the trip again in the future. See more..

I've been on countless raft trips in my lifetime, both self supported and guided. Our trip with MFWO was hands down the best experience I've ever had on the water. We booked a private trip with a large group of friends and Willis + crew tailored the trip to us flawlessly. MFWO brought the perfect balance of professionalism and fun. With every detail taken care of, we were able to unwind and enjoy the middle fork to its fullest extent. Most importantly, we feel we left the river with lifelong friends in the MFWO crew. We will absolutely be booking with Willis again in the future. See more..

Havinbg been a lover of the great outdoors all 78 years of my life, that trip down the River of No Return left nothing to be disappointed about. 6th river trip with ARTA, 3rd time down the Main Salmon! Once again, we had an excellent trip. This river is a "gem". There is big whitewater, swimmable eddies, great scenery with plenty of wildlife, white sandy beaches where you can sleep under the stars. The food is healthy and super delicious! ARTA's guides are first rate - safety is always first, but to a one, every guide we have had has been personable, knowledgeable, kind and responsive. We will always follow ARTA wherever they go ….. we love them! See more..

It's hard to put to words the feelings that came from being on this trip. Five days of being unplugged, of briefly living in such a beautiful landscape, of having new adventures and making new friends—all of this contributed to creating something that felt akin to magic. As someone who had wanted to make this trip down the Middle Fork for at least a decade, I worried that I'd built everything up in my head but this far exceeded my expectations. I can't wait to do it again. See more..

This vacation and destination was so fun. One of my bucket list items. Wayne and his crew are top notch. I loved the physical activity (paddling), some short hikes and the history each guide provided while floating down the river. The lodging was fantastic and hearing stories from the property owners and managers were fantastic. I got to see lots of eagles and Big Horn Sheep. It was a great 70 mile trip down the river. I would love to do it again. You can't go wrong with this organization. See more..

  19. 5.0 Silver Cloud Expeditions - Day Tours (1 review)
    - Silver Cloud Expeditions!
Wednesday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM River Rafting & Tubing
Silver Cloud Expeditions - Day Tours image
I have just returned from a five week primitive camping trip covering six of the western mountain states. As part of that trip with my two sons and for part of the time, my 33-year-old daughter, was a five day raft trip on the Salmon River with Silver Cloud Expeditions. Without any reservations, I have to say that the rafting trip was the highlight of the entire trip. I have been planning this trip for well over five years and during that time I’ve been watching Silver Cloud Expedition‘s website. My selection was based on the reviews submitted by clients. The experience completely lived up to the comments submitted by previous clients. Sean and his crew (Tessa, Nate, Chris, and Jeffrey) provided the very best in expertise, culinary art, knowledge and history of the surrounding area and above all safety! As far as action goes, I was hoping for some class five rapids but believe me the class IV and class III rapids definitely filled the bill where there’s a need for an adrenaline rush. Sean and his team are expert on the river. They really do know what they’re doing, believe me! (Tessa has been guiding raft trips down the Salmon and other rivers since she was 14 I believe). I can’t say enough about the attention to detail in the crew’s willingness to attend to and assist with any need that a customer might have. Family trips like these are an investment in the nurturing of family relationships. Sean and his crew understand this and made every attempt to ensure that not only the members of my family enjoyed themselves but that every member of the party had a good time. The money that was spent on this trip was well worth it and I wouldn’t hesitate to spend it again. In fact, I will spend money with Silver Cloud in the future. Thanks Sean and crew for a truly memorable trip, it was fantastic! See more..

It is surrounded by the Beaverhead Mountains and the Continental Divide and borders the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness. The Sacajawea Interpretive, Cultural & Educational Center interprets the rich cultural and natural history of the Salmon and Lemhi River Country, deepening people’s connection to the unique place this area holds in our nation’s history, which was shaped in part by the Lewis and Clark Expedition and Sacajawea, as well as her people, the Agaidika Shoshone-Bannock Tribes. The Sacajawea Center is owned and operated by the City of Salmon. Our mission is to foster the knowledge and appreciation of the Agaidika Shoshone-Bannock Tribes, the Lewis & Clark Expedition, Western frontier life, and the natural environment. See more..

    Goldbug Hot Springs image
Drove to Goldbug from Sawtooth (~1.5h drive) before sunrise. Arrived at the trailhead at 8am, took us ~40min to hike to the top. Arrived at the hot spring before 9am and there were already many people there. Many folks camped in the park. There are only about 6 pools! I highly recommend getting there before 8am. Kids and families started to arrive around 10am. Spectacular view and the hot spring is amazing! The pools are also deep enough to soak your entire body in. FYI people do not practice social distancing there! So go early to avoid the crowds! See more..

We had read about the collections of this small museum and were delighted to find it as wonderful as reported. The museum has the largest collection of Lemhi Shoshone ( Sacagawea's people) artifacts and they are beautifully displayed. There is also an interesting display of a collection of Asian items collected by a man and donated to the museum. It's well worth a visit. See more..

TERRIBLE experience! The booking experience with guidetime is terrible. I tried to book online but there is no way that you can get a trip confirmed instantly. After submitting my booking I got a call from the founder!? Weird! I don’t want to talk to someone when I try to book a trip on the web.
