Shopping in the lower level corridor on the end of the Mall at Rockingham Park being redeveloped, I went to Josh’s Toys & Games. While browsing, I saw a wide variety of items from Ravensburger Puzzles and Ty stuffed animals to activity books and many different kinds of games for all ages. I came across Yahtzee, an old family favorite. I rate Josh’s Toys & Games at 5.0 and highly recommend shopping there. The gal running the store was helpful and knowledgeable. 3. 5.0 Locally Handmade Salem, Nh (1 review)
    - SHOP WITH HIGH-QUALITY ITEMS FROM LOCAL ARTISANS
Sunday: 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Speciality & Gift Shops
    Locally Handmade Salem, Nh image
Shopping an Upper Level corridor at the Mall at Rockingham Park, I came to Locally Handmade. I’d been to the one in Newington and liked what I saw there, so I went into this one, too. Inside, I was greeted by one of the artisans who was making hand-painted New Hampshire-motif things on small round pieces of birch wood that could be tree ornaments or just anytime ornaments. There were several varieties of hand-made candles, onesies for youngsters, T-shirts, stuffed toys, jewelry, and more. I shopped Cosmic Green Candles. They were made of clean-burning soy. The different varieties had unusual names, such as Mouth Breather which was peach nectar scented, Midnight Snack which was Chocolate Fudge Scented, and more. I found a number of items for dogs that included leashes, collars, and bandanas. There was even a bow tie. For the home, I saw several types of bottle openers, coasters, coffee mugs, kitchen towels, oven mitts, and pot holders. I also saw some food items that included maple syrup and other maple products as well as blended seasonings. There was no shortage of variety of items. There was a bin full of walking sticks. A swivel rack held key rings in many different designs. For personal care, there were tins of solid lotion, beeswax hand cream, and more. I particularly liked the lemon verbena hand cream called No Drama Mama. There were other items for him and her. Browsing the jewelry, I found rings and necklaces. I got a hand-made necklace with a dragonfly pendant for $15.00. I rate Locally Handmade at 5.0 and highly recommend a visit, especially when shopping for a gift. 4. 5.0 Simple Delights (1 review)
    - DELECTABLE CHOCOLATE SQUARES

    Simple Delights image
On my most-recent shopping trip to The Mall at Rockingham Park, I explored the first and second floor corridors between JC Penney and Macy’s. On the first floor near Build-A-Bear Workshop, I found Simple Delights. The store had packaged candy and individual pieces of fudge and chocolate and also offered Stuff-a-Bag. In deciding what to buy, I got as far as the case with the squares of chocolate. My decision was made. I took two squares of the dark chocolate nut. With tax, the total was $1.39. Near the store, there was a seating area. I had one of the squares for a snack there. The chocolate was delicious. It was smooth, rich-tasting, and not too sweet. I rate the chocolate squares from Simple Delights at 5.0 and highly recommend stopping in for a sweet treat as so many shoppers do about 4:00 PM. 5. 5.0 Build-A-Bear Workshop (1 review)
    - WHO CAN RESIST LOOKING AT CUTE STUFFED ANIMALS?
Sunday: 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM Speciality & Gift Shops
    Build-A-Bear Workshop image
On this shopping trip to The Mall at Rockingham Park, I explored the first and second floor corridors between Macy’s and JC Penney. On the first floor near Macy’s, I found the Build-A-Bear Workshop. This was my first visit to a Build-A-Bear Workshop. From an associate, I learned that the process was: choose an animal friend, get clothes and shoes, select sounds and scents, next add accessories, and then get the friend stuffed. At the time of my visit, the store was very busy. There were about twenty people lined up to have their animals stuffed. Others were at different stages of the process with the add-ons. In browsing the animals, I liked the classic bear and Pikachu best. This was a really fun store with a lot of whimsy appropriate for all ages. I rate Build-A-Bear Workshop at 5.0 and can recommend a visit. If you found this review helpful, please click THANK below. See more..
  6. 5.0 The Body Shop (1 review)
    - GREAT PRODUCTS AT MODERATE PRICES
Sunday: 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM Speciality & Gift Shops
    The Body Shop image
On a shopping trip to Salem, I went to The Mall at Rockingham Park after visiting the new Tuscan Village on the other parcel of land that the Rockingham Park race track once occupied. On this trip to The Mall at Rockingham Park, while shopping the second floor stores in the corridor near Macy’s, I came to The Body Shop. I stopped in to see if there were any new products for summer. In the collection of Special Summer Edition products, I found the Cool Daisy Hydrating Body Mist. I thought it was nice. Since the daisy comes to mind when one thinks of summer, its fresh scent is a perfect fragrance for summer. As far as I know, The Body Shop is the first to use the daisy scent. And, mixed with a hydrating agent, the mist cools and hydrates the skin ~ two summer necessities. At $13.00, I put that along with a bottle of the Cool Daisy Shower Gel at $10.00 on my shopping for August. Both products are vegan as are many of the other products. I also liked the Spa of the World Japanese Camellia Cream Velvet Moisture Body Cream. At $36.00, I put that on my wish list. That was also a vegan item. I enjoyed shopping at The Body Shop. This English skin care, cosmetics, and perfume company sells great products at moderate prices, avoids animal testing, and is environmentally responsible. I rate my experience at The Body Shop and the products I shopped at 5.0 and can recommend a visit. If you found this review helpful, please click THANK below. See more..

    Border Brewery image
Went there with a few friends, was warmly greeted, and then- the BEER!! A cool little brewery, where you can hang out, and have some great beer and food. Also, a great food truck named Lindsey's Curbside Kitchen was there, run by a nice guy, Mark Cyrulik- who even came in with a host of things to try for us during The Pats game- on the house......!! Thanks Mark!!!! :) There is a nicely stocked brew supply store you first walk into, and then around the corner- great beers like Peanut Butter Stout, Pumpkin Ale- and many more at the cozy Bar Room, a nice big screen for the Games as mentioned too....! :) Very friendly patrons, bartender, owner, etc. We can't wait to get back there for the Maple Pecan- something or other coming soon....... :) :) ::) Very reminiscent of the quaint little breweries my girlfriend and I love, when we go to Vermont- keep it up guys- we absolutely love The Border Brewery!!!! Sincerely, Bob. :) See more..

  16. 4.0 Salem Bible Church (1 review)
    - NEW ENGLAND WHITE CLAPBOARD CHURCH
    Churches & Cathedrals
    Salem Bible Church image
Stopping by Moo’s Place for ice cream, I saw the Salem Bible Church next door and went over for a visit. Its architectural style suggested that it might be a historic church from the 1800’s; but, research revealed that the church history on Elmer Road dates back to 1981 with rental of a house there. Then, the congregation built a church that opened in January of 2003. Nevertheless, it’s a pretty white clapboard church in a country setting so common in New England. I rate the Salem Bible Church at 4.0 and can recommend a visit, especially when going to Moo’s Place. If you found this review helpful, please click THANK below. See more..
  17. 4.0 Rockingham Plaza (1 review)
    - ONE OF SALEM’S LARGER MALLS
Sunday: 10:00 AM - 9:00 PM Shopping Malls
    Rockingham Plaza image
Visiting in Salem for several days on either side of New Year’s Day, we shopped a lot. Salem has many small and mid-sized malls in addition to very large The Mall at Rockingham Park. From what we saw, we’d say that Rockingham Plaza was the second largest mall in operation in Salem at the time of our visit. There’s a question on how big the shopping area of the Tuscan Village will be when it’s fully open. The roadway to that was blockaded when we were in Salem, so we couldn’t go there. For stores, Rockingham Plaza has Kohl’s, Christmas Tree Shops, Bob’s Stores, Bob’s Discount Furniture, TJ Maxx, Petco, NH Liquor Store, Verizon Wireless, and GameStop. Dining options include Papa Gino’s and Panera Bread. For services, there’s a Great Clips. During our visit, we shopped at Kohl’s. I shopped several departments ~ Apt. 9 and Lands' End to name some. On a future trip, we’ll shop Christmas Tree Shops, TJ Maxx, and Petco. And, I'd like to eat at Panera Bread. We rate Rockingham Plaza at 4.0 and recommend a visit. If you found this review helpful, please click THANK below. See more..
  18. 4.0 Kohl's Salem (1 review)
    - SALE SHOPPING AT KOHL’S IN SALEM
    Department Stores
    Kohl's Salem image
Visiting in Salem for several days on both sides of New Year’s Day, we did a lot of shopping because Salem is a town with many shopping malls, strip malls, and shopping plazas. Shopping in Rockingham Plaza, one of Salem’s larger shopping plazas, we went to this Kohl’s. I spent most of my time in the women’s/misses’ sections. In the Apt. 9 section, I shopped for tops. Of interest was a cowl neck ribbed-knit sweater in light beige with flecks of rust and burgundy. In Lands’ End, I saw several jackets I liked but considered them too pricey. In the Croft & Barrow area, I looked for the ribbed turtleneck sweater in a shade called Ozark Blue that I’d seen online. It was on sale at more than 50% off. It was sold out in all sizes except Extra Small. We ran out of time for shopping before we were through here but returned another day. We rate this Kohl’s at 4.0 and can recommend a visit. If you found this review helpful, please click THANK below. See more..
  19. 4.0 Salem Plaza (1 review)
    - MID-SIZED SHOPPING PLAZA WITH THREE LARGE STORES
    Shopping Malls
    Salem Plaza image
In Salem for several days on both sides of New Year’s Day, we did a lot of shopping because Salem is a town with very many shopping malls, strip malls, and shopping plazas. Salem Plaza is a mid-sized strip mall with three large stores: a combined Marshalls/Home Goods, Market Basket, and Bed Bath & Beyond. There’s also a Citizens Bank with an ATM. We stopped Market Basket first for a few grocery items. This Market Basket has the new concept Market’s Kitchen that features ready-to-eat foods or take-home meals such as wraps, hot and cold subs, paninis, soups, salads, chicken wings, 19” pizzas and individual slices of pizza, hot dogs, hamburgers, grilled chicken sandwiches, fried chicken, and more. I’ve had pizza slices and foods from the Market’s Kitchen section of other Market Basket stores. Everything has always been fresh and very good. This was the first time we’d seen a combined Marshalls/Home Goods store. The store was quite large. As with most Marshalls stores, there was a large selection of clothes in missy sizes. There was a water-resistant Under Armour Coldgear Reactor Perpetual 3-in-1 Hooded Jacket of interest; however, at $79.99, I thought it was quite pricey. Another item of interest was a mid-weight sweatshirt-type Mondetta Cropped Full-Zip Hoodie Jacket marked down to $10.00, but it was a little too cropped for my liking as it hit me only about 1” below the waist. Although there are only three stores here, they’re large, can provide hours of shopping, and carry high-quality merchandise. Another factor is the proximity to an unidentified adjacent shopping plaza with a connector roadway and the Rockingham Plaza diagonally across the road. We rate Salem Plaza at 4.0 and recommend a visit to this and Annie’s Hallmark in the unidentified adjacent shopping plaza. If you found this review helpful, please click THANK below. See more..
  20. 4.0 L.l. Bean - Tuscan Village (1 review)
    - NEW L.L. BEAN STORE
Sunday: 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM Speciality & Gift Shops
L.l. Bean - Tuscan Village image
Arriving in the new Tuscan Village in Salem, I had circle around but eventually got a parking space near L.L. Bean so I shopped there first. While browsing some outdoor clothing, I was introduced to the No Fly Zone brand of insect-repellent clothing made with fabric that also acted like 50 SPF sunscreen. The fabric was lightweight, tightly-woven, smooth, and felt slightly silky. I learned that the fabric was treated with permethrin, a synthetic form of a naturally occurring bug repellent. I browsed a couple other departments. I checked out tote bags and lunch bags. An item I’d not seen before was a Bento Box to pack in a lunch bag. Out behind L.L. Bean was a small man-made lake that L.L. Bean will use for its Outdoor Discovery programs for kayaking and paddle-boarding. The L.L. Bean store is near a large outdoor sitting area nearby at the Tuscan Market Patio. I rate this L.L. Bean at 4.50. It’s almost as great as the flagship store in Freeport, ME. 21. 4.0 Barnes & Noble (1 review)
    - TWO-STORY BARNES & NOBLE
Sunday: 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM Speciality & Gift Shops
    Barnes & Noble image
Visiting the Salem area for several days on either side of New Year’s Day, we did a lot of shopping. Salem has a lot of small and mid-sized malls in addition to very large The Mall at Rockingham Park. This Barnes & Noble is in Salem Park Plaza, a mid-sized strip mall near MaryAnn’s Diner. During our visit to this two-story Barnes & Noble with up and down escalators, we found a lot of books and seasonal items on sale. All the Christmas merchandise was 50% off. The Book Annex was pretty big with a lot of books marked down. There was small book section for children up back on the lower level. That area also had toys. One book of interest to me was “Hubble – Imaging Space and Time” from National Geographic. We rate this Barnes & Noble at 4.25 and highly recommend a visit. 23. 3.5 The Cloud Palace (7 reviews)
    - Fun, chill, and cozy!
    Sunday: 6:00 PM - 12:30 AM Bars & Clubs
My husband and I are Americans who live in the Middle East. Shisha is a big thing there. So it's nice to be able to have a place to come to when we're back in the USA (visiting family and friends). The Cloud Palace reminds me of a shisha "Cheers" bar-- a fun, friendly place where you get to know people and where they know you and appreciate your business. The atmosphere is chill. The music is upbeat, lively, etc., but not so vulgar that I feel uncomfortable being there. (A BIG difference from Elixir Hookah Lounge in Methuen!!!) The prices are fair, the service is good, the drinks are good, and the shisha is well-made. A great place to relax and watch sports or to hang out with friends. Don't miss $3 Thursdays where $3 well drinks are served. There's also a DJ on Thursdays and belly dancing on Fridays. See more..
  24. 3.5 Salem Park Plaza (2 reviews)
    - MALL WITH A TWO-STORY BARNES & NOBLE
    Shopping Malls
    Salem Park Plaza image
Salem Park Plaza is a mid-sized strip mall near the intersection of South Broadway and Veterans Memorial Highway. It’s around the corner from MaryAnn’s Diner. It’s one of many small and mid-sized malls in Salem. Businesses include T-Mobile, Barnes & Noble, Supercuts, Findeisen's Ice Cream, and an enclosed Bank of American ATM. Findeisen's Ice Cream was closed for the season. Our visit to this mall occurred during several days in the Salem area around New Year’s Day. We spent well over an hour in Barnes & Noble. There were a lot of books and seasonal items on sale. All the Christmas merchandise was 50% off. We’ll go back another time after Findeisen's Ice Cream reopens. For the presence of Barnes & Noble and its proximity to dining and other shopping, we rate Salem Park Plaza at 3.50. If you found this review helpful, please click THANK below. See more..
  25. 3.0 Cinemark Rockingham Park (2 reviews)
    - Grand Opening Success!
    Spent 2-3 hours Movie Theaters
I have a membership and frequent our local theater regularly but we were in the area visiting friends and got to watch a movie at this new location. Cinemark has made some positive improvements with their design including removing the walls at the base of the chairs that were impacting the view of the lower portion of the screen. The new recliners now have more positions and include a heating option which was amazing. I have always been impressed with their facilities and will continue to visit on a regular basis. See more..
  26. 3.0 Bull Moose (2 reviews)
    - Stay away!
Sunday: 10:00 AM - 9:00 PM Speciality & Gift Shops
    Bull Moose image
Unkept and unprofessional staff I’ll never step foot in this dump again. The disinterred people who work there seemed more interested in their inappropriate conversation behind the counter than paying any attention to customers, I’d rather not her cashiers talk about their last sexual experience and every other word be the f bomb I can’t imagine bringing kinda into this disgusting place! Do yourself a favor stream the movie at home or order it from eBay. The Salem Bullmoose and I’d guess all Bullmoose stores should be avoided at all cost. See more..
  27. 3.0 419 South Broadway (1 review)
    - U-SHAPED SHOPPING PLAZA WITH TWO BUSINESSES OF INTEREST TO TRAVELERS
    Shopping Malls
    419 South Broadway image
Salem has many malls, strip malls, and shopping plazas. 419 South Broadway is one of the smaller shopping plazas. The primary draws here for travelers are Balducci’s Wood Fired Pizza for dining and Bull Moose for shopping. Other businesses include a Benjamin Moore Paint Store, a private academy, and a play school. Our stop here was for shopping at Bull Moose, an independent retailer of music, movies, books, and toys. It has good prices. During our stop here, were saw a number of people coming and going from Balducci’s just in the few minutes we were outside. And, of course, Bull Moose was quite busy. For the quality of the businesses here, we rate 419 South Broadway above average at 3.50. If you found this review helpful, please click THANK below. See more..
  28. 3.0 Salem Village (1 review)
    - SMALL SHOPPING PLAZA WITH A VARIETY OF BUSINESSES
    Shopping Malls
After visiting in Methuen, I came upon Salem Village when I was passing through Salem. I stopped to see what stores were there. First, I shopped Salem Village Market which carried a wide variety of grocery items plus beer, wine, and tobacco products. In the dairy section, I liked some of the cheeses. This was my first stop at the Loyal Companion store there. It had many different types of dog and cat food. One brand of canned cat food I saw was Fussie Cat Premium Tuna with Clams in Aspic. In aspic, no less! I also saw the expected bowls and feeders, collars and leashes, cuddle caves, and cat scratchers. There were dozens of toys for dogs but not that many for cats. Other businesses at Salem Village include AutoZone, Sherwin–Williams, Ten Natural Nails, and Clip & Shear. There was one dining option: Stachey's Olde-Time Pizzeria. I stopped in to check it out for possible future reference. It was a typical pizzeria. It offered pizza, calzones, subs, salads, sides, and dinners. From the set-up, it was ore a take-out place than a dine-in restaurant. I rate Salem Village at 3.50 and can recommend a visit. If you found this review helpful, please click THANK below. See more..
  29. 3.0 Stateline Shopping Center (1 review)
    - SMALL SHOPPING CENTER WITH AN ALDI
Sunday: 7:00 AM - 8:00 PM Shopping Malls
    Stateline Shopping Center image
Stateline Shopping Center is one of many small and medium malls in Salem. It has three main businesses of interest to travelers: Lowe’s, ALDI, and Santander Bank. On my visit here, I shopped at ALDI which has great prices because of its marketing concept which is warehouse style. Many items are put out on palettes to keep down labor costs. There are certain items I buy at ALDI. On this fill-in trip, I went to pick up a package of the L’Oven Fresh Bagels at $1.49 and a 1 lb. package of Countryside Creamery Unsalted Sweet Cream Butter Quarters at $1.97. Each item was at least $1.00 less than at the regular supermarkets; and, the ALDI quality is just as good. Heading down one aisle, packages of non-GMO organic pastas caught my eye. The 1lb. boxes of whole wheat spaghetti and linguine were just 99 cents. Elsewhere that would sell for $2.99 or more. A certain online retailer of everything gets $8.40 for a 2-pack of 1 lb. boxes. Overall, I rate Stateline Shopping Center itself at 3.25. I recommend a visit here to shop at ALDI. If you found this review helpful, please click THANK below. See more..
