- 4.5 Giant Slide (13 reviews)
-Awesome fun for all ages!
Playgrounds • Game & Entertainment Centers
We went on a Saturday late winter morning. The gate was closed but we parked in front and went easily around. (There is an area to go around gate for pedestrians). We were the only ones there. It was pretty amazing- nicely taken care of and there is a new playground there as well for any of the little ones that don’t want to do the slide. Picnic tables as well. There were at least 7-8 burlap sacks for you to use as well. The slide goes really fast -especially as an adult! The kids make it look so easy! There is also a little area where u can donate a little cash which goes towards the maintenance of the slide. We all had fun and we highly recommend this activity. See more..
- 4.5 Loys Station Park (2 reviews)
-Historic covered bridge with a role in the Civil War
Points of Interest & Landmarks • Bridges
Loys Station Covered Bridge is a major feature of Loys Station Park, part of the Frederick County Department of Parks and Recreation. We were impressed at finding several one-lane covered bridges in this part of the county, with Loys being a well-maintained example that is still in use along Old Frederick Road east of Thurmont in Rocky Ridge. The park itself is clean and cheerful, offering picnic areas both under a pavilion and in the open. There is a playground set for children and adequate parking. A historic sign board tells of the Union Army crossing this bridge after the battle of Gettysburg. The park has trails, and a very simple one enables one to get a close-up view of Owens Creek as it flows under the bridge. See more..
