When I attended the 10:00 Service this past July 21st, I was very impressed by the Clergy, the Setting and the Service itself... Held in the (new) Great Hall building on the hill just above the Original Church due to the 98 degree temps that morning, I felt welcomed and cool! But, the liturgy was "warm" and inviting to all to participate. I will be going back when I visit my son and Family. See more..

  9. 4.5 Green Animals Topiary Garden (235 reviews)
    - Must see Topiary Garden
Saturday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Speciality Museums • Gardens
    Green Animals Topiary Garden image
Green Animals is the oldest and most northern topiary garden in the United States. This small country estate in Portsmouth was purchased in 1872 by Thomas E. Brayton, Treasurer of the Union Cotton Manufacturing Company in Fall River, Massachusetts. It consisted of seven acres of land, a white clapboard summer residence, farm outbuildings, a pasture and a vegetable garden. Gardener Joseph Carreiro, superintendent of the property from 1905 to 1945, and his son-in-law, George Mendonca, superintendent until 1985, were responsible for creating the topiaries. There are more than 80 pieces of topiary throughout the gardens, including animals and birds, geometric figures and ornamental designs, sculpted from California privet, yew, and English boxwood. Today, Green Animals remains as a rare example of a self-sufficient estate combining formal topiaries, vegetable and herb gardens, orchards and a Victorian house overlooking Narragansett Bay. They have jazz music every Saturday from may-dec. You can bring your own chair, blanket and food. They grow all of their own grapes for all of their wines. Nice small quaint vineyard. 13. 3.5 Gull Cove Beach (3 reviews)
    - A Favorite Kayaking Spot
    Beaches
    Gull Cove Beach image
Gull Cove is a real gem. Don’t come here for sandy beach. As a kayaker, we love that we can drive in (don’t mind all the ruts), Park, and have the boats in the water in under 10 minutes. Off to the right there are some fabulous marsh areas to discover with egrets, ducks, and deer. It’s as peaceful as it gets. You could easily spend 1-2 hours round trip from the beach in the marsh area. Come back to shore and pull out your chairs to have lunch. People are always friendly and it isn’t ever crowded. You can also paddle to the left and kayak around the island, or go under the bridge and you are on the Sakonnet river where you can paddle near the marina. Our usual routine is to visit Gull Cove, paddle around, then drive to Tiverton Four Corners and get ice cream at Gray’s. A perfect day and a perfect outing. Gull Cove, a hidden R.I. gem. See more..

  15. 3.0 The Barn (1 review)
    - Popular place but just OK
    Bars & Clubs
This cute little restaurant in the center of Adamsville, RI is in an old barn. The atmosphere is country and the restaurant is very busy particularly in the summer. The food is lackluster - ate there recently and couldn't finish my food. The hollandaise sauce tastes like its from a box, underneath that - my english muffin was soggy, and home fries are over - spiced. I'm not going back. I'd rather have less quantity with improved quality. See more..
