Surrounded on three sides by snow-capped mountains, Pocatello is a beautiful small city in the heart of eastern Idaho. The unspoiled wilderness in and around the city is perfect for cross country skiing and snowmobiling in the winter or hiking and biking in the summer. The Pontneuf River Greenway running through town is popular for jogging and strolling in warmer climes. Every year since we moved to Chubbeck 5 years ago we go as a family to Swore Farms. We ride the wagon to the Pumpkin patch, take the corn maze and our kids get face paintings. Wendy the owners wife makes the best horse face painting ever. Our 2 year old daughter couldn't stop smiling. This year they had a spray-paint artist and a bunch of little kid games. We typically spend half a day. The maze takes our kids about an hour with quiz questions at every fork in the road. This is a life saver so you don't get to lost. Also several early outs so the wee ones can go to the bathroom. Swore farms is like our October tradition. Oh and we always get some fresh produce(sweet corn, tomatoes,squash, etc...) See more..

The outdoor beer garden is great although the inside looked nice as we walked through. I was visiting my mother and sister in Pocatello so went with my sister and her husband. The beer list is heavy on IPA's which is not unusual these days. I was able to find a cream ale that I liked, so all was well. I had a burger from the food truck that was great and since they had Greek food, my sister and husband had that. The Greek salad was good. I would recommend this place to anyone and I would go back. We ran onto Wanderlust one hot day on a motorcycle ride. The location is in a strip mall, but it was cool inside. Much to our surprise Wanderlust had a terrific selection of craft beers and a few good wines. The prices are reasonable and we very much enjoyed trying a couple of beers, a cider, and two wines. I purchased a reloadable card with which I can purchase from several different wine selections and three sizes of pours. Insert the card, select my wine, select my pour, and place my glass under the button. No food is served except free popcorn or small bags of chips that can be purchased. We planned a stop on a driving trip out west and my only regret was not allowing more time. There was so much history around cleaning things. The displays are so well done and it’s three stories worth of exhibits. If you have kids there is a large play area. Mr. Aslett was there and talked with us and he has an incredible story. We happened upon this historic complex in driving through Idaho. This complex contains several sights: a set of recreated western buildings (the Pocatello Junction), the Bannock County Historical Museum, and the Fort Hall replica. The staff was outstanding and very helpful. The Fort Hall replica is especially noteworthy. It contains several rooms with excellent displays. We particularly enjoyed the excerpts from actual letters of pioneers and settlers. The entire complex gives an outstanding portrayal of life 180 years ago. We went to the production of Scrooge (Charles Dickens) with our daughter and grand-daughter. Both the dinner and the play were outstanding. May have been the best prime rib I've ever had. Service was just right and I was totally amazed at the acting talent and choreography. There were four of us to we sat at a round table for four next to center aisle second row back. Turned out to be perfect location. They also have tables for six which are behind the round table and slightly elevated. Making reservations on their web site (palaceplayhouse.com) was a breeze. I took my grand Daughters here, I had never been and what fun we all had. We went on a weekday when the opened. I dont think I would want to go on a weekend as I have seen the traffice then. But when we went was very relaxing, we played miniature golf. It was dark and had blacklights so was kind of hesitant but glad we did. We all enjoyed it. Then we played lots of games and got some prizes with out tokens. The kids had a blast as did I. I would absolutely recommend this place. We were told when we entered that the animals there were rescue animals. Some of the areas such as the Grizzly Bear, Elk and Coyote enclosures were very nice and gave the animals a little room to roam. Other animals such as the Black Bears and raccoons were in the old traditional small cages. This is why it is a work in progress, there is much that needs to be done. They have 25 acres and this has the possibility of being a good facility for rescue and rehabilitation of local animals but there is a lot to do. I really went between a 2 and 3 on this one but there is construction going on and I hope next year to see some improvement. The petting Zoo for children is nice to bring them to as well as the Aquatic center across the street. See more..
