  1. 5.0 Zoo Creatures (6 reviews)
    - Rare and exotic reptiles
Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Zoo Creatures image
I recently visited "Zoo Creatures" in Plaistow, NH. They have rare and exotic pets from all over the globe. It was an excellent visit. Great customer service and a wonderful array of animals. The staff was always happy to answer any questions and certainly know their exotics/products. The store was the best exotic pet store I've ever dealt with. They are committed to their customers. The animals in their care are their top priority. You will see creatures such as: Horned Lizards, African Frogs, Water Monitors, and all kinds of Snakes to name a few. I highly recommend this store to any novice or experienced herpetologist. See more..
  2. 5.0 YarnSong (1 review)
    - GREAT YARN SHOP WITH DOZENS OF BRANDS FOR KNITTING & CROCHETING
Spent < 1 hour Speciality & Gift Shops
    YarnSong image
While shopping in Plaistow, I happened upon YarnSong in Plaistow Commons, a strip shopping plaza. Inside, I found that the shop stocked with about three dozen brands of the best yarns in different fibers, weights, and plies for knitting and crocheting. I found the silk blend by Manos del Uruguay particularly interesting. The shop also had a wide array of knitting needles, pattern books, and other supplies. It was very well stocked. Throughout the shop, finished projects were on display. The woman running the shop was very friendly. She talked to me about the shop. She told me that there were events and classes for knitting and crocheting --- some were after regular store hours. I found it to be a great shop for knitting and crocheting hobbyists to shop for supplies. I rate YarnSong at 5.0 and highly recommend a visit. 4. 4.0 Rusty Bucket Antiques (1 review)
    - UNEXPECTED FIND TUCKED AWAY IN THE NORTHLAND MALL
Saturday: 11:00 AM - 5:30 PM Spent 1-2 hours Antique Shops
    Rusty Bucket Antiques image
In Plaistow on a daytrip, I stopped at the Northland Mall for lunch at Louis Roast Beef & Pizza and then went over to Rusty Bucket Antiques a few doors away. I found Rusty Bucket Antiques to be a fun place jam-packed with all kinds of old things to browse. There were a lot of small collectibles, some art, two old gas pumps, a good amount of furniture, home decor, some racks of clothes, and more. I even saw an antique child’s pedal car. Back at the front counter I looked at two costume jewelry rings. One was a large oval deep purple stone surrounded by clear crystals. The other was in the form of a butterfly with smooth opaque stones in lavender --- possibly sea glass --- in the forewings and two clear crystals in lavender in the hindwings. Both rings were $3.00 each. I really loved the butterfly ring. That’s the one I got. As Meredith, the Saturday helper, and I finished up the sale, the owner arrived. I got to meet him. Both were very knowledgeable and cordial. I enjoyed looking around this shop. It was impossible to take in everything in one visit so I’ll be stopping by again when I eat at Cafe El Camino, a recently-opened Mexican restaurant also in the Northland Mall adjacent to Heavenly Deals, a non-profit consignment shop that sponsors charity benefits to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the ASPCA. I previewed that shop on this visit and will explore it more next time. I rate Rusty Bucket Antiques at 4.0. It was an unexpected find tucked away in the Northland Mall. 5. 4.0 Stateline Plaza (1 review)
    - PLAZA WITH A VARIETY OF BUSINESSES & GOOD RESTAURANTS
    Spent 1-2 hours Shopping Malls
    Stateline Plaza image
In Plaistow on a shopping trip, I stopped by Stateline Plaza which on the state line between Plaistow, NH and Haverhill, MA. I wanted to see what the TJ Maxx there had and to check out the Hawaiian Isle Restaurant which turned out to be a Chinese Restaurant. Hawaiian Isle Restaurant checked out favorably. It had an extensive menu typical of Chinese restaurant – complete with a long list of Lunch Combo Plate Specials in the $6.00 - $7.00 range. Other businesses included Panera Bread, Shaw’s, GameStop, Petco, CVS, Party City, Magic Touch Dry Cleaners, Mattress Firm, Great Clips, and T-Mobile. On the roadway into Stateline Plaza, there are other businesses that are over the state line in Haverhill. It’s not clear if they are part of Stateline Plaza. Heav’nly Donuts is one of them. I’ve had their donuts. They’re delicious. Other businesses along the perimeter include Steve’s House of Pizza, Fergie’s Barber Shop, and Grande Mexico. For the variety of stores and dining options, I rate Stateline Plaza at 4.0. If you found this review helpful, please click THANK below. See more..
  6. 4.0 Plaistow Center (1 review)
    - SHOPPING PLAZA WITH RETAIL, RESTAURANTS, & AN ALDI
    Shopping Malls
    Plaistow Center image
Visiting in Plaistow for a few days, I went to Plaistow Center to shop after lunch nearby at Chang Long in Plaistow Commons. Plaistow Center is shopping plaza that is spread out in three separate buildings, one of which is in an L-shape. It has good restaurants, retail stores, and services businesses. Whenever I go to Plaistow, this shopping center is always on my itinerary. The main retailers include Dollar Tree, ALDI, and Savers. They are in the section furthest from Route 125. PetSmart and Papa Gino’s are in another section on one side of the driveway that leads to the back section. A third section parallel to Route 125 holds Sushi Time Supercuts, GNC, and Lens Doctors. In the section closest to Route 125 are Moe’s Southwest Grill, Walgreens, Foods Plus, and Cigars, Etc. Foods Plus is a big convenience store with snacks, food, cigarettes, craft beer, beer kegs, liquor, and sundries. It’s always doing a brisk business partly because a lot of people from nearby Massachusetts communities, such as Haverhill, shop there to get the lower prices in NH. On my most-recent trip, I made my usual rounds. My Dollar Trees in Somersworth and Portsmouth were out of stock on a couple of items I wanted. So was the one here. The ALDI here in Plaistow provided my introduction to the ALDI grocery store chain. Even though ALDI came to where I live in Dover, I still like going to this one. On this trip, I picked up a jar of their roasted unsalted peanuts for $1.89. From what I’ve seen in the two years I've shopped there, ALDi’s prices are always lower than the competitors’ prices. And, at Savers, it was a 50% off day on summer clothes and other items. For the budget and bargain prices at the retailers and the restaurants here, I rate the Plaistow Center at 4.0 and recommend a visit, especially for shopping at ALDI. 7. 4.0 Plaistow Commons (1 review)
    - STRIP MALL WITH GREAT RESTAURANTS & SEVERAL RETAIL & SERVICES BUSINESSES
    Spent 1-2 hours Shopping Malls
Plaistow Commons is a strip shopping plaza in the commercial shopping and dining district along NH Route 125. It has two great restaurants, an excellent ice cream shop, a sandwich shop, and several retail and services businesses. The two restaurants are Chang Long and The Early Bird Café. I’ve eaten at Chang Long before and ate there again on this trip. Stillwell’s Ice Cream has a shop there as does Moe's Italian Sandwiches. I’ve enjoyed ice cream at another of Stillwell’s locations before. There are also two specialty shops for crafters: YarnSong for knitting and crocheting supplies and D & D Sewing & Quilt Shop which sells supplies and Pfaff sewing machines which they also service. My visit here had three purposes: 1) To have lunch at Chang Long again; 2) To scout out The Early Bird Café; and, 3) To see what YarnSong was all about. The Early Bird Café checked out favorably as did YarnSong, a very nice shop. Another specialty shop I saw was Eric’s Solid Oak Amish Furniture. The word Amish, paired with furniture, spells handcrafted and quality workmanship. At a future date, when I have more time, I plan to visit this shop. Rook’s Barber Shop, Billy’s Nail & Spa, and Invidia Salon offered services for men and women. For the presence of several great local restaurants with excellent food and a number of specialty shops, I rate Plaistow Commons at 4.25. If you found this review helpful, please click THANK below.
