  4. 5.0 American Legion Park Veterans Memorial (14 reviews)
    - Outstanding Park and Memorial
Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks
American Legion Park Veterans Memorial image
This municipal park and veterans memorial is an outstanding “hidden gem” in our opinion. Stopping in Pinedale on our way to Yellowstone we were blown away by this park located right by the river. A great walk along the river there are plenty of benches to rest at or just enjoy the view. The park probably covers at least 10+ acres. There was an outdoor concert going on and everyone was really enjoying themselves (while social distancing). A great park and memorial for a small town ! See more..
  5. 5.0 Sommers Ranch Homestead Historical Ranch (13 reviews)
    - Fun and educational for kids
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
Sommers Ranch Homestead Historical Ranch image
Took my 10, 7, and 5 year old children here. Lots of hands on things for them to do and they had a great time. There is a quite a bit that an adult could read and take in, but a couple hours was enough time for my kids to explore everything. The host was very kind, showed the kids around the place, and answered questions. The mosquitoes were terrible, so dress appropriately. They did have bug spray available which helped immensely. As we were leaving, my five year old declared, “I had an amazing time!” See more..

    Green River Lakes image
Green River Lakes is about 90 minutes from Pinedale. You will drive beside the Green River pretty much the whole was. The last 35 minutes will be on a dirt road that can be rough. The drive to the lakes is nice but not spectacular. But the scenery at the lakes is amazing. This is my second time there. The first time we had great blue sky's and could see forever. It was very memorable. This time the smoke limited what we could see but it was still worth it. See more..

This monolith looming above the Green River Lakes not far from Pinedale is utterly breathtaking. Sometimes mistaken for Devils Tower, it’s actually much larger and of different geology. Currently it is on the Wyoming license plate. If you backpack the Wind River Highline Trail you’ll pass immediately beneath this incredible peak. I hope you find it. See more..

The Museum of the Mountain Man shares a comprehensive collection of Rocky Mountain fur trade journals, relics such as Jim Bridger’s Rifle and the finest Native American sheephorn bow still in existence. Opened May through October and winter season by appointment. See more..
  15. 4.5 U.S. Route 191 (69 reviews)
    - Beauty and the Beast
    Scenic Drives
    U.S. Route 191 image
Without a doubt, US 191 between Jackson and Pinedale, Wyoming is one of the most beautiful and picturesque drives in the country. Complete with mountains, plains, forests, rivers, wildlife and clear blue skies, this stretch of highway is clearly one of the best of the best. But, it also has a dark side of which travelers should be made aware. Us 191 near Pinedale, WY is a speed trap of the worst kind. A renegade cop is pulling people over and arresting them on trumped up charges and is being given a free pass by the local judges. This Wyoming Highway Patrol Trooper is also very disrespectful and unprofessional. His unethical and illegal behavior gives all law enforcement agencies a bad rap and is certainly part of the reason the majority of Americans neither trust nor respect police officers. Forewarned is forearmed. See more..

  20. 4.5 Elkhart Park Trailhead (17 reviews)
    - The most amazing view I have ever seen!
    Hiking Trails
    Elkhart Park Trailhead image
We were put in touch with a local to take us up to a point called sacred rim. At the time (about a year ago - Oct. 2015), there was really no info on sacred rim and no trail markers or anything (hence the local guide). All I can say is WOW. The view was so amazing and stretched so far that it actually started to look like a painting. My dad actually teared up because of how beautiful it was. Note that it was at least an hour to hour and a half hike up some rough terrain. That - combined with the fact that we were about 8,000 feet higher than where we normally live - made us quite breathless and tired. Still worth every step though! Also, a chipmunk climbed right into my hand - AMAZING - and then the local yelled at me because apparently they bite. See more..

    - Also a Great View of the Green River Rendesvous
Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks
Ancient Path of the Pronghorn image
It is simply fantastic that these over and under passes have been built to assist the pronghorn migration. Just to the east of the overpass you can take the gravel county road south for about 100 yards and then turn off to drive about 1/4 mile in a high clearance vehicle to see the Green River Rendesvous memorial. From the top of the hill you can look down on where 6 different fur trade Rendesvous' were held between 1833 and 1840. Oh, and you also go right beside the pronghorn migration overpass. See more..

  25. 3.0 Wrangler Skate Park (1 review)
    - A great find for a small town
Spent < 1 hour Game & Entertainment Centers
    Wrangler Skate Park image
First off, kudos to Pinedale for this park. It's not often that a small western town has a skate park, and this one, while small, is well designed and a nice feature. However... While it's typically not very crowded, it can be a little overwhelming for younger skaters. The skate crowd is intimidating to preteen kids, and some of the behavior is unacceptable. While it's safe, I would suggest being there with younger kids, and monitoring the older ones while at this park. See more..
