- 5.0 Sandy River and Rangeley Lakes Railroad (13 reviews)
-Very informative and interesting!!
Scenic Railroads
It's clear that everyone at the SRRLR loves what they are doing and have a passion for it! We learned so much and enjoyed learning the history of the narrow gauge railroad! We'd consider it the best $12 we've spent on a vacation! This is well worth visiting! I wish we were closer so we could come ride the Ghost Train!! See more..

-History, Charm, Railroads, and More
Spent 1-2 hours History Museums
We go to this historical house in Phillips every year during the town's Old Home Days, and I'm always impressed at some new feature they've added. Last year it was framed photos of town vets that had been part of a photographer's trove; this year it was quilts that had been identified (by design, age, material) by an expert from the Maine State Museum. There's a big section related to the local narrow gauge railroad (Sandy River & Rangeley Lakes), a reconstructed school room, various furnished house rooms-- including one that has a bread board on which a sleeping infant, jostled from the family sleigh, shot down a snowy mountainside many years ago. Monday: Antique Shops
The Little White Church Antiques and More is a multi-dealer antique mall featuring 3 floors full of Antiques with price ranges to fit all budgets. The shop is in a beautiful former church built in 1867, complete with tin ceilings and walls, wood floors, and gorgeous stained glass windows. Eats & Treats Cafe & Bakery is also housed here, offering freshly made-from-scratch soups/salads, sandwiches, and baked goods. Cold drinks for purchase, as well as free coffee and hot tea are available. Customize your sandwich yourself and take it to go or eat in our cafe and have a conversation with one of our regulars. We are planning on putting a deck on the front with umbrella tables this summer for eating outside. Celebrating the 150th birthday of our building, so be on the lookout for birthday specials this summer! See more..
