   Stone Cottage Cellars is a family business and an ongoing labor of love. Our adventure started in 1994, when we left the corporate world to begin a new and sustainable chapter in our lives that would allow us to raise our family in a rural community, connected to the land. This mission led us to the North Fork Valley, and a passion for fine wines led us to purchasing one of the highest elevation vineyards anywhere in the world. Being “connected” is something we sought out, but little did we know what that would actually involve, and how hands-on our new life would be. Over the years, we built Stone Cottage Cellars from the ground up, stone by stone, from the Stone Cottage, to the wine cellar, to the tasting room. Currently, we are building a larger home to house our growing family, with plans to add more winery space and another wine cellar at some point in the future.    While waiting to check in to our B&B we decided to pull over and get a coffee. Lo and behold, my husband decided to taste their wine and was so impressed!    You need to know that this winery is not always open to the public. If you buy tickets for the spring barrel tastings throughout Colorado (Wine Around Colorado) - this winery is generally on the list of participating wineries. They are generally on the Colorado WineFest tour and they have several open houses during the year. It is worth seeing this winery - it is a real working winery and not really set up for year round tourism. So - I work hard to come here during any open hours. It is truly fascinating going into the wine cellars here and talking with the vintner. He makes BIG red wines that are my favorite Colorado reds. Besides the cellars, there is a pond and organic gardens that are fun to tour. And - though the year, there are some brunches and meals held at the winery that are worth seeking out! See more..
