    - Amazing views most beautiful hike I’ve been on
    Hiking Trails
    Piedra River Trail image
So worth the drive! We were a little confused at first bc address on trip advisor takes you to an intersection if you ask it to guide you there. From that intersection you have to keep going for 20 minutes, your cell phone will lose service so that’s probably why it won’t pinpoint exact location. We were amazed by views on our way up trail and on trail. Just walked in about 1 mile bc we had kids. See more..

    - Absolutely stunning view to endless forest and valley
Points of Interest & Landmarks • Lookouts
    Wolf Creek Pass Overlook image
Just right off of the highway is a large parking area with stunning views to endless forest and valley. Great rock formations as well. You can see beautiful lakes and green fields. Several mountain ranges. They put up very tall metal fence/railing, which makes photo taking a big difficult. You could tell it used to have a low rock wall. Probably for safety reasons, otherwise it would make a great photo op spot for sure. Definitely take a few minutes to take in the views. Worth a stop over. See more..

    - Great family hike!
    Waterfalls
    Treasure Falls image
During March it was still covered with ice and fairly slippery/muddy. But a 5 year old and a 42 year old without hiking shoes made it so you can too. It was about 30 minutes round trip. 10 minutes out of Pagosa Springs. Partially melted. 100% worth it! See more..

  14. 4.5 Piedra Falls (171 reviews)
    - Amazing adventure
    Waterfalls
    Piedra Falls image
You won’t find a crowd here! These falls are a little of the beaten path. The views and on the drive are amazing but it is a long dirt road. I think a lot of people stop before they reach the falls because it does seem a long way. Once there, it’s a small hike through the woods and these falls are intense but the rocks keep the run off safe and swim/wadeable if you chose to do so. Note, the water is cold! See more..
  15. 4.5 San Juan River Walk (125 reviews)
    - Beautiful, safe, refreshing, fun
    Spent 1-2 hours Hiking Trails
    San Juan River Walk image
I'd been driving for 3 days. I was so tired but needed something to take me from road-weary to vacation-ready. This is such a tranquil place. Architectural features such as bridges and buildings blend aesthetically into the beautiful scenery. Walking paths are concrete if you want (beware of skateboards and bikes). The sounds of the bubbling water mixed with the laughter of people tubing, kayaking, fishing, swimming or just soaking. If you're lucky you can find an occasional spot where the thermal water is piped in for casual (and free) soaks. The wild animals are tame enough for wonderful photos. It's a great place to bring a lunch and just sit at the many tables. It's great for a 10 minute break or an entire day. See more..
  16. 4.5 Diamond Hitch Stables (89 reviews)
    - Great trip
    Equestrian Trails
    Diamond Hitch Stables image
Multi- Family of 12 from 2 years of age and up took the hour long trail ride! Great experience and loads of fun. Horses were so gentle and made the riding experience greater. It has been years since I have rode a horse and they made me feel secure. Safety was a top priority and they made sure the kids knew what to do and that they had fun. Highly recommend and would like to go on a longer trail ride next time See more..
  17. 4.5 Fourmile Falls Trail (75 reviews)
    - Great day hike
    Hiking Trails
    Fourmile Falls Trail image
The is a good, moderately hard day hike. We found the trailhead just fine. The bathrooms at the trailhead were closed due to COVID, so prepare for that. The hike starts downhill and finishes uphill. Be ready to be out of breath and to have your heart pumping if you're not acclimated to the altitude. The first waterfall was at low flow--not a whole lot of water coming down, but a cool place to visit nonetheless. After the first waterfall, another good, hard 10-15 minutes up the trail brings you to the top of the 2nd waterfall. There are pools to soak in at this higher waterfall. The drop off at the top of the fall, which you have to climb down to, is a pretty scary several hundred feet. See more..
  18. 4.5 Lobo Overlook / Radio Tower (47 reviews)
    - Top of the World!
Spent More than 3 hours Lookouts • Scenic Drives
Lobo Overlook / Radio Tower image
We drove to Wolf Creek Ski area and it was like a ghost town. So, we went up to the Lobo Overlook which was really a spectacular view. It was very windy so we didn't have our picnic there, but on a not so windy day it would be great! Enjoy the drive and the view! See more..
  19. 4.5 Pagosa Museum (42 reviews)
    - A true treasure in Pagosa Springs
Monday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Speciality Museums
    Pagosa Museum image
We stopped at the history museum during our get away in Pagosa Springs. What a delightful treasure trove! Mary, our tour guide, was just delightful. There was a quilt exhibit that month. The quilts were inspiring. The entire experience was wonderful. We would recommend this museum to people who appreciate the past and our history in the U.S.? See more..
  20. 4.5 Elwood Pass (31 reviews)
    - Great Ride!
    Off-Road & ATV Trails
    Elwood Pass image
We rented a Jeep from Overland Adventure in Pagosa Springs. We took it up Elwood Pass. SOOO much to see and so worth it. If you aren't familiar with 4 wheeling I don't recommend you attempt this without someone that is a good driver in the mountains. Kids 9 and 11 had a lot of fun. We got out and stopped at several places. We did stop at Silver Falls. So again need a 4 wheel drive vehicle and need to be familiar with 4WD. See more..

  23. 4.5 Opal Lake Trail (18 reviews)
    - Look Out for the Cows!
    Hiking Trails
    Opal Lake Trail image
There were many cows around the road with some in it for the last 1/2 mile to the trailhead. The trail was very pretty. A number of people were sitting around the lake enjoying the afternoon. They all told us you could not make it all the way around the lake as there were no trails through the trees. So we went all the way around the lake. Every once in a while you came across a horse trail, you just had to keep your eyes open. Made for a better afternoon as we got to see more of the area. See more..
  24. 4.5 Reservoir Hill Park (16 reviews)
    - Beautiful under snow, lots of places to hike and snowshoe
Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails
    Reservoir Hill Park image
Highlights: Not far from the town center (a 5- to 10-minute walk uphill). Views of the whole surroundings and mountains. Beautiful trees (great job from the city to trim them and protect the eco system - you can read all about it on several placards in the forest). Cool picnic areas (one secluded in addition to the pavilion). The disk golf was closed but it makes sense during Covid. Lowlights: None. See more..

  30. 4.0 Rocky Mountain Wildlife Park (228 reviews)
    - Go see it!
Monday: 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Rocky Mountain Wildlife Park image
The feeding time tour was really interesting - the guide shared a lot of information about each animal (even though a rainstorm was moving in). These are animals that cannot survive in the wild, and daily feedings must cost a small fortune. Some of the animals have been in the care of the park for 15 years or more, and they all appeared very well cared for. Educational and fun. See more..
