More than pleasantly surprised at the collection of historical items from the Packwood area of Washington from mining to agriculture to artifacts from the founders of this city at the Gateway to Mt. Ranier. A converted grade school has been converted to this interesting and educations museum and the $2 cost of admission is a bargain compared to the $15 charges I have paid for other museums that are not as well organized or identified. Don't pass this one by if you want to learn how an early trading post in the middle of the Mt. Ranier, Mt, St. Helens area came to become the Gateway to Mt. Ranier. See more..

Fantastic hike! Although long, the trails are easy to navigate and the terrain is good for most skill levels. There are some rocks and a couple muddy areas, but nothing our tennis shoes weren’t able to handle. We arrived by 8am and the parking lot was already full. We took the hiking trail down to the lake and encountered around 5 groups, all following social distance and mask rules. Including our times to stop and take pictures/ bask in the beauty of the trail, the hike to the lake took around 2 hours from the parking lot to the entrance to the lake. We hiked about halfway around the lake before stopping for lunch and to explore. On our way back we took the lower ATV/ horse/ foot trail back, and wow I am glad we did! Gorgeous views!! In total, we spent around 7 hours and hiked close to 13 miles. Completely worth it! See more..

We were ready for lunch and this small town had a few places. Wear a mask to the table. Staff wore masks. We had the philly cheese in a tomato basil wrap with home made potato salad. Very good potato salad. Highly recommend. Also had the Hawaiian burger with fries. This place doesn’t disappoint. The owner/cook makes the potato salad. They offer homemade pies. We were too full to taste. I wanted to try the strawberry rhubarb but didn’t. Alcohol is available. See more..
