On the spur of the moment my daughter and I decided to take the ferry over from Ticonderoga to the shores of Vermont to explore the heavily wooded Mt. Independence State Historic Site. Are we ever glad we did! Cloudless skies and hot temps made the perfect combination for a ferry ride over to Vermont and Mt. Independence. We were informed by a local that there wasn't much to see at this historic site, but as nice as he was, he obviously hadn't been there in awhile. There is a beautiful information center with short video (very interesting), and numerous trails to explore. As history buffs, this truly did connect the dots with respect to historical events that took place in the area in the 18th and 19th centuries. See more..
