This is a very interesting place. Upstairs they have a wonderful exhibit on the Native peoples that lived here first. Nice gift shop, & there is a tower you can climb, that has incredible views . On the way in, you can see a rock, that was used to pound the acorns, & the holes in the rocks, came from the repeated pounding. See more..

- 4.5 Feather River Fish Hatchery (26 reviews)
-Updated Visitor Experience
Friday: 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM Farms
We visited the fish hatchery in November. The big harvesting was over by the time that we visited. They added a very informational self guided tour. The tour is easy to follow and well thought out. Informational signs are new and full of information. In addition, there is a 2 minute video by the harvesting room you need to see. There are two sections the hatchery itself and either a short walk or drive to the fish ladder. Be sure to see both sides. Be aware that the restrooms are closed at the ladder due to vandalism Have your family use the facilities at the hatchery before going to the ladder if that is a need. I would highly recommend Feather River Fish Hatchery for families. See more..
- 4.5 Feather Falls Scenic Trail (21 reviews)
-This is a must do if you like hiking!!!!
Spent More than 3 hours Hiking Trails • Waterfalls
This is an amazing day trip. It is nice all times of the year, but especially nice in the Spring when the weather is sunny and the temperatures a little cooler. There are two trails, though one is sometimes not as accessible do to overgrowth. The one that veers to the right after leaving the parking lot is longer, but not as steep. It is also better if it is a wet year. Beware of the poison oak on either trail. The views are spectacular. There is a great walk out area good for taking a rest and getting the full view of the falls. It should be amazing this Spring after all the rain we have had. Don't be fooled by the seeming calm of the river above the falls. Many very serious accidents have happened here. Don't chance it. Also, don't leave things visible in your car as there have been some break-ins in the parking lot, in the past. See more..

-Phenomenal Experience!!!
Wineries & Vineyards
I loved every second of our visit. My husband and I were heading home from a 10 day trip and had a tasting stop scheduled. Little did we know we would run in to road construction which caused a delay. We got there with only 20 minutes until closing. We were welcomed and allowed to do our tasting. The pairings were remarkable. The owner even gave us an after hours tour of the beautiful establishment. We were given the option to sit on the balcony to take in the breathtaking views. Wow! What great customer service. I love this place and really really enjoy the Moscato Dolce dessert wine. See more..

- 4.5 Phantom Falls (2 reviews)
-A Fleeting Beauty
Hiking Trails • Waterfalls
Phantom Falls is a seasonal waterfall on the North Table Mountain Ecological Preserve. It only flows after the rains, so you'll need to be prepared to visit when it's cold, get a little muddy, and pass a few cows along the way (just give them a wide berth). It's particularly beautiful in March and April when the wildflowers are in bloom. If you go right after particularly heavy rains, you'll find other smaller waterfalls flowing on your way to Phantom Falls. This moderate hike is a Must that everyone should do at least once while in Butte County. See more..

-Must go to for animal lovers. I fully support this sanctuary. Will be back soon!
Friday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Nature & Wildlife Areas
I wish I could give everything I have to this foundation. My friends and I came here after a disappointing trip to Oroville and this flipped our mood completely around. I want to tell everyone about this place, their mission, the beautiful animals. Sure we’d love to see them in bigger cages, but this place runs off of ONLY donations. Incredible the heart you have to have to dedicate your time like this. I wish I lived closer and could volunteer but I’ll definitely be back. I apologize I didn’t catch the man at the entrance name, but you were so kind to us, thanked us for our service and told us a little about how much these animals take to care for. Thank you. P.S. the bears were my favorite and the baby deer who unfortunately was imprinted upon. See more..
- 4.0 Mother Orange Tree (16 reviews)
-Interesting piece of agricultural history
Spent < 1 hour Nature & Wildlife Areas
The "Mother Orange Tree" is the oldest living orange tree in California, having been planted in 1856. Cuttings were used from the tree to start the california orange tree industry in Northern California. The tree sits alone barracaded from the public by a cast iron fence. However, the tree still bears fruit and low-hanging ones can be reached and tasted! There is nothing to see here except the tree...this is mainly an attraction for those interested in plants and botanical history. See more..

- 4.0 Lazy T Trail Rides (4 reviews)
-Great Trail Ride
Horseback Riding Tours
Took our second trip with Todd of Lazy T Trail rides yesterday. So glad we found him, what a nice person to take a ride with. He has nice horses that are suitable for riders of all types. He runs a small operation with just 5 or so horses, and is happy to just take out 2 people for really nice trail rides. We rode in the Oroville area in the Feather River wildlife preserve on our first trip with him. Very pretty scenery by the river. On our 2nd trip he took us up to Oroville State Park and lake. Great trails through wooded rolling hills, and they have a really well set up horse camp there. It has campsites with picnic tables, fire rings, and even has shower facilities. We are hoping to get Todd to take us on a camping trail trip next year. He is very personable, fun and has great specials through Groupon. Look him up, you won't be disappointed!! See more..
