Huntington Beach Pier was first finished in 1904 but was damaged in storm and rebuilt in 1914 and in 1931 500 feet was added to the pier but it separated from the original pier in the earthquake of 1933. After the war the pier was returned to the public and held up until the storms of 1983 & 1988 finally damaged pier to the point it needed to close. The current pier was finished July 18th, 1992 with a dedication with 500,000 people. The pier was built using much of the same 1914 design. 3. 4.5 Balboa Island Ferry (1.937 reviews)
    - Fun Stroll thru Balboa Island
    Ferries
    Balboa Island Ferry image
Wife and I have been to area around Ferry many times, but this was first time we took Ferry to Balboa Island. For only a dollar each, we rode on Ferry as pedestrians. It's about 50 cents extra to take bike with you and about $2 a person to take a car. You need cash because they do not take credit cards. It was a sunny warm day and the trip takes about 5 minutes. Just a fun time with great view of harbor. See more..
  4. 4.5 Angel Stadium of Anaheim (1.724 reviews) from $6.10
    - The Big A
    Arenas & Stadiums
    Angel Stadium of Anaheim image
I've been to Angel Stadium many times over the years, and it's always a nice place to see a game. Even though it's the fourth-oldest ballpark in the major leagues, it wears its age well, with pleasant landscaping and modern amenities. The overall atmosphere is very relaxed. Freeway access and parking are both easy, and the Metrolink/Amtrak station is just a short walk away. The cost for tickets, parking, and concessions are all very reasonable for a stadium. A solid ballpark all around. See more..

  8. 4.5 Crystal Cove State Park (1.246 reviews)
    - Nice walking and views!
    State Parks • Beaches
    Crystal Cove State Park image
First the bad news. Arrived at about 3:00 pm. Parking for one hour was $5 or $10 until sunset. I opted for the $10 pass. There are four lots strung out over the 3.5 mile length of the park. A path runs its course along the top but there are a few places where one can go down to go down to the beach. I didn’t find beach access from lot 2 but there is two access parts from the path that can be accessed from parking lot 1. Depending on the tide, beach walking may require shedding the shoes. There are several overlook point where one can take beautiful pictures. I wasn’t able to do the entire length of the walking path due to time constraints. See more..

    Piers & Boardwalks
    San Clemente Pier image
San Clemente is famous as a surfing mecca, but even if you don't surf, or don't have a chance to do so, the pier is well worth a visit. San Clemente is the last outpost of the greater L.A. metro area before it washes up against the impregnable military wilderness of Camp Pendleton, and perhaps as a result, the city has a refreshingly mellow vibe compared to its many cousins to the north. The pier amply reflects this. Drink in the views. Shop a little. Sample some local grub. You'll quickly figure out why world leaders have cherished this area as a retreat. See more..

Our reserved area from the Blue Bayou was close to the water in the middle section and included a foam pad to sit on. - One of the Best Dog Beaches You Will Find where Happy Dogs Run Free
    Friday: 6:00 AM - 10:00 PM Beaches
    Huntington Dog Beach image
I will bring my dogs here every time I visit. They love visiting and it rivals the Carmel dog beach which is fantastic. We brought our younger dog here for the first time in late February and she was in heaven. It's a long stretch of beach and when I was there, all of the dogs were having fun - no aggression. Parking was easy, but it was a weekend, so it was crowded. We did manage to snag a parking spot right away because someone was leaving. The problem with this place is that it's tough to convince your pups to leave! Thank you Huntington Beach - My dogs were both smiling - truly. See more..

    1,000 Steps Beach image
Not quite a thousand steps but certainly a steep and winding flight of stairs that descend down to this stunning beach. A popular spot for surfing, the waves here grow large and offer up a bit of a challenge. You can also take a kayak tour in the area to explore sea caves and spot sea lions out in the ocean. Due to the steep descent, this beach is not easily accessible for those with mobility issues and parking is a distance away and fills up early. Check tide schedules in advance as high tides can cover a great deal of the beach. – Tripadvisor See more..
