• This wildlife preserve is designated as an official Washington State Birding Trail by the Audubon Society. • No trails actually lead into the 682 acres of wetlands, however, so you'll have to look from afar. • The area is one of five locations in the state where snowy plovers and migratory birds such as great blue herons, brown pelicans, and pheasants still nest. • Snowy owls are also common in the middle of winter. • On clear days, you can also take in views of giant Mount Rainier, which looms in the distance to the southeast. • Bald eagles and harbor seals call Damon Point Home. Always a great place to be but keep an eye on the kids. You can build a small beach fire away from the grassy area with driftwood but take your own wood anyway and some fire starter. Carefully climb up on the riprap and watch big freighters going through the channel and (sometimes) huge waves breaking on the jetty rocks. Sometimes you'll see a seal also, and plenty of gulls - no bouys though. We were there on a winter day with a cold wind howling and a little drizzle so we didn't stay long - just picked up some small pieces of driftwood to take home. It's better in the summer, but anytime is worth the visit. Also great after a big storm as all sorts of stuff floats up on the beach. See more..

If you dont mind the trek through the sand, you can find lots of nice agates. I went with my mom, warned her that I heard it was quite a trek to get to where I wanted to go. She said she was up for it. I did have to cut the trip shorter than planned and we did turn back a bit early, mom couldnt hang. Its not a bad walk really. But the sand can be tiring for some. There are grassy places to walk, but I was there to look for agates and other treasures that washed up. I would love to go back and spend time there with the family in the summer, or go solo and walk the area at low tide. See more..

This is probably the most beautiful beach I’ve been to. It has sand on every trail. Deer just walking along the trails. The scenery is UNREAL with a beautiful river running through the middle. There is a big bridge that takes you over the river into the sand dunes and tall grass before being let out in the wide open ocean. Wow, it is so incredible. We liked this taproom so much, we came three times during our 36 hour holiday to Ocean Hours . The service, delicious beer (with a wide selection), space inside and out (heated toilet seats!), and fellowship we found here was delightful. On Saturday evening, our dog Nari had a blast running around outside on the grassy area with several other well-behaved local dogs while we chatted with their human guardians. We haven't seen her have as much fun with other dogs since we adopted her in March, so it was a magical time indeed. Our two Sunday visits were more subdued for all of us while we sat inside the tent, protected from the breeze, but there were still dogs to be met and connections to be made. We really enjoyed our visit to Shores Bowl. They were patient and helpful with our autistic granddaughter. The machines worked well for scoring, there was food and drink available, pool tables, etc. The doors were open for airflow, which made it safer for less chance of Covid exposure. As for "mask wearing"...the owner/staff member at the desk was wearing a mask...other than that, not very many people had masks on. See more..

What a great place! The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The guy who got us on the road with the mopeds was thorough and patient, a natural teacher. They have everything you need to hit the road, helmets, gloves and glasses, as well as the education, and all included in the cost of the rental. My gloves were brand new and I had to remove the packaging. The owner even gave us tips on riding the bikes on the beach. We will definitely go back! Thanks for a fun afternoon! See more..

This attraction was made for your young daughter. Horseback riding right on the shore. Very gentle and docile horses made for a lifetime memory for my young gals. Rides are an hour long for 20 bucks and--think about it--you could blow that much with three go-cart rides in less than 20 minutes. All the wranglers are proficient, alert, and very safety conscious. We're in day three of our Spring Break, and I'm sure that we will cave in to our little gals, and they will be on those horses tomorrow. And the day after... :) See more..
