   My family had a wonderful visit with Bill and his dogs. They were very hospitable and answered the many questions that we had about the dogs and what to expect on the dog sledding tour. It was a once in a lifetime type experience and I would highly recommend doing this with someone like Bill who has been mushing for many decades. Additionally, the 1-hour drive from Fairbanks to Nenana offered many spectacular views of the Alaskan wilderness and mountain range. See more..

   My daugher and I did the 1/2 day excursion- about 4 hours. We spent about 1 1/2 hours meeting the dogs, harnessing and connecting them to the slad, and learned how to operate a sled. Then we were off for a ~20 mile ride! Ryan was in the lead sled about 100ft ahead of us and we were in our own sled behind him. This was not a trot through the woods like a trail horse- you had to brake, lean, and duck down at certain times. A great adventure. It was about 5F outside and we had plenty of cold weather gear- only our feet got a little cold so make sure you have good quality boots and socks as well as jacket, etc. We went on a dogsled ride in VT a few years ago (also a 5 out of 5 in my opinion) and this blew it away.    Nenana Visitor Center is fun place to stop and get information about the town, its history and info on how to get around. We have magazines, brochures and train tickets from Nenana to Denali (24 hour notice required). We also have an all Alaskan gift shop, with everything from Alaskan Furs to Birch Snacks and wild berry jams. The Visitor Center is also the home of the Alaskan Gallery, featuring Vibant three dimensional metal prints of Alaskan animals and landscapes. With featured Artsis right in the shop. There is no better place to stop along the parks highway in Alaska to get everything you need. Snacks, Restrooms and picknick area are all available for your convenience. See more..

   This is a partially restored train station that serves as a museum of how trains / stations worked. The individual working there was extremely knowledgable and eager to share his knowledge of the station.    We made a stop here en route from Denali to Fairbanks. There's an interesting museum, gift shop, and coffee shop. The surrounding area is interesting as well--nice views of truss bridges over the Tanana River. See more..
