    Cedardale Orchards image
This small family owned operation is a breathe of fresh air...or fresh cider. Located right off the freeway, the big red barn is hard to miss. Lucky for us its fall and apple season is in full swing. We stopped by fir the fresh apple cider and loved it. Light and not to sweet. We watched the guys load the apples into the distillery and see the juice come out on the bottom. Inside we were greeted by two young kids giving free samples and later collecting my cash. It was the weekend and they were making apple donuts. YUMMMMM! We grabbed our cider and donuts and hit the road. Totally worth stopping by. Wish they made apple pie. See more..

    Skagit Valley Tulip Festival image
Skagit Valley is a popular destination in the early spring, when in late March through April, the acres upon acres of land suddenly burst to life. Boasting tulips of every shade, colour, and variety, its wild parks become the perfect spot to sit and take in the awe and majesty of nature, while its curated private gardens become an oasis of calm and beauty. Visitors from around the world flock to see, photograph, and be photographed with the vistas of flowers, which stretch out as far as the eye can see. They're sure to time their visit: some tulip varieties bloom in March, some in late April, and most blossoms only last for about two weeks. My girlfriend lives in the area and I was on a hunt for berries since it was the end of the season. Well, lo and behold they had the most gorgeous blackberries I had ever seen, so SCORE! They not only had berries, they were getting ready for fall and what a presentation! Pumpkin Patch, Gourds, Squash and fresh beautiful produce. They also have a cute gift shop and freshly baked pies. So, of course I had to take home a blackberry pie which was beyond delicious! The kitties roaming the area and seeing the chicken coop were also a plus! What a fun place for both kids and adults, so fun we went back! Keep up the excellent work! See more..

    Padilla Bay Interpretive Center image
This place is a hidden gem for the Pacific Northwest. The exhibit room is laid out very well - lots of hands-on ways to learn - perfect for kids and adults. Excellent education about the marine life just below the surface. It focuses on the importance of eelgrass, the food chain down to the phytoplankton and ways to care for this delicate ecosystem. The aquarium room is even better! The main aquarium is a series of tanks that are OK to get your hands in to touch the sea stars, anemones, urchins, sea cucumbers, even an octopus. The person answering questions was a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm for the creatures of the tanks. See more..

  16. 4.5 McIntyre Hall Performing Arts & Conference Center (11 reviews)
    - Just saw George Winston here, exceptional venue!
    Spent 2-3 hours Concerts • Symphonies • Theaters • Theatre & Performances
McIntyre Hall is a beautiful, thoughtfully designed place for concerts like George Winston's one-man show which brought us here for the first time. It's comfortable, intimate (compared with Bellingham's Mt. Baker, which seats about twice as many) and relatively new so accoustics and lighting are great. We'll definitely seek out shows here in the future. We didn't partake, but there's a bar for wine etc for before-show tipples, and the day we were there separate coffee service as well. See more..

  18. 4.5 Breazeale Interpretive Center (9 reviews)
    - We love the Padilla Bay dike trail, just south of Bayview
    Speciality Museums
    Breazeale Interpretive Center image
We will often (4-5 times a year) drive from Seattle to Padilla Bay for the walk along the dike. The northern end of the trail is about one and a half miles south of the Interpretive Center and the trail just over two miles long. We find parking and access easiest at the south end of the trail. From Seattle, driving north on I-5, we exit the freeway at the Arlington exit and head west towards Silvana. We drive through Silvana (with a stop at Silvana Meats) driving north past Stanwood on the Pioneer Highway and turn left at Conway. This route takes you across Fir Island (Snow Goose Fruit stand) and through Ritzville (they roast their own coffee at the store). Once we're in the Skagit Valley we make a jog to the next road to the west (La Conner Whitney Rd) which can be done at Highway 20. From Highway 20 La Conner Whitney changes to Bayview Edison Rd. and the southern end of the dike trail is just about a mile north of Highway 20. See more..

  23. 4.0 Tulip Town (275 reviews)
    - Not perfect timing.
    Monday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Gardens
    Tulip Town image
We visited here a little too early in the year, so there were not so many tulips in bloom. We still enjoyed ourselves as there were some very beautiful tulips close in to the main area. We also took the tractor ride around the small area where there were flowers. The gardens surrounding the windmill were very pretty and there is a large barn-like structure where you can order tulips, purchase snacks, and hang around with murals of the Netherlands. I suspect a couple of weeks later the fields would have been teeming with tulips. See more..
  24. 4.0 Bay View State Park (68 reviews)
    - Great experience!
    Parks
    Bay View State Park image
We loved this park - small & friendly. The camp host were great & our site (61) was nice & private. Bathrooms were reasonably clean & water was close by. The location is a great base fr exploring the area, with Anacortes, Bellingham & the San Juan’s nearby. Hiking at Mt Baker is about 90 mins away. Watching the sunset over the bay each evening was a highlight! There are extreme high/low tides here with low tides exposing mud flats - great for bird watching, less great for paddleboarding/canoeing. On the downside, some of the sites are pretty small and some are not very private. We saw people with larger vehicles not really fitting into their space, so choose your site wisely. See more..

  26. 4.0 Pleasant Ridge Farm (1 review)
    - Farm stand
    Farms
We followed the signs off the main road to this lovely and active small farm stand. They had apples , corn, and squash out at the time as well as local honey. Prices were good. We bought a lot. The produce was excellent. We found the corn sweet and the apples tasting uniquely interesting (we had the pink ones). All in all a fun stop for us. We thought it a nice way to get in touch with the land, so to speak. See more..
  27. 3.5 Glacier Peak Winery (4 reviews)
    - Glacier Peak Tasting Room on Best Road
    Spent < 1 hour Wineries & Vineyards
    Glacier Peak Winery image
Stopped in knowing that they were carrying Scarlet Oak Barrels wines, and checked out the other wines that Glacier Peak had to offer. Mikael we very friendly and his enthusiasm made the experience worthwhile. The Winemaker of Scarlet Oak is now the Winemaker for Glacier Peak so they are in a transition with there wines, but we have to say, the first offering by Mr. Sewell, the Resort Red is a fantastic representation of a Bordeaux blend. We were quite pleased. We also stopped by Glacier Peak Winery up on North Cascade pass and got the dime tour. Can't wait to come back next year to see all the positive changes. See more..
