    - Outstanding!

So, we had blown by the scenic view at Moki Dugway & I whined until my husband turned around & went back. We turned around at an unmarked gravel road at the top left, just before the road went back to blacktop. While we were admiring the view, another car drove up & the guy started talking to us about the dugway & Muley Point. I told him I wanted to see Muley Point, but I didn't know where the road was to get there. He told us the unmarked road was it! Thank God for him!! He told us there was no sign (he said on purpose). He said just keep driving to the end. What a FANTASTIC view!! So glad we didn't miss it. It was fabulous. Lots of people boondock here. We passed a lot of trailers & class c campers as well as tents. It's very windy at the point. One other thing - if it's been raining & there's standing water in the road - DON"T TRY TO DRIVE THROUGH IT! You will sink down & be stuck. See more..
  2. 4.5 Valley of the Gods (614 reviews)
    - Rugged, beautiful, quiet...and free!

While the mesas, buttes, and rock formations may not be as spectacular as those at nearby Monument Valley, they are still amazing. The valley is public land managed by the Bureau of Land Management, and there is no entrance fee. We drove west to east from U.S. Route 163, nine miles north of the town of Mexican Hat, to Utah State Route 261. The 17-mile winding gravel road is quite steep and bumpy (so glad we had a rental). There were a few other cars and some people camping, but at times it seemed we had Valley of the Gods all to ourselves, on the same day we had visited a very busy Monument Valley. Highly recommended if you have the time. See more..
  3. 4.5 Forrest Gump Point (579 reviews)
    - Well worth the little extra effort to find

Iconic spot. It's a must do if you're going to Monument Valley. Even if you don't know about or don't care about Forrest Gump, it's a fantastic view of Monument Valley. If you come from Kayenta, past the entrance...it's about 10 minutes further up the road toward Mexican Hat UT. Cars are good about slowing down and yielding for people in the road taking pictures. 4. 4.5 Monument Valley (8 reviews)
    - Yes, it is a sight to see
    Geologic Formations
    Monument Valley image
I have wanted to visit Monument Valley since childhood. I finally got my chance and I wish I had made the trip earlier. I love geology. I love sketching and painting. I love seeing beautiful country. Folks, Monument Valley has it all. Really something to see. We took our own vehicle through the park. It has higher clearances than most vehicles, so if your car is low slung we suggest taking the guided tour. The geological sights are something to behold. You will not see this in any city in the world. The Navajo Code Talkers overlook is impressive. If you have ever watched a 'western movie or TV show' there is a good chance you have seen Monument Valley. Once you get here you will realize the big screen does not do it justice. See more..
  5. 4.0 Mexican Hat Rock Formation (487 reviews)
    - Those Who Love Geology Will Enjoy Seeing This Little Rock Formation. To Others And Children, They Call It Cute!

    Mexican Hat Rock Formation image
A very unique rock formation created by geologic processes over millions of years. Mexican Hat is "cute" and quite photogenic. It lies on the road beween the Moki Dugway and Monument Valley. The layered rocks near it are also colorful and unique. See more..
