   Kirwin is rich in history. This is an incredible day-trip. Read up on it before you go. YouTube has some WYOPBS videos that you should see before going. This is a 4WD or UTV/ATV trip. It is not a difficult trip if you know anything about off road touring. One caution is the first hill after the USFS campground is a booger if it is wet. If coming down, stay in the ditch or you'll have a bad experience. If you plan to hike during this trip, take along a sidearm and bear spray. Although not bad, the trip may not be for the faint of heart. It is truly a destination if you are in the Meeteetse area. IF you are a "greenhorn", let someone know that you are going and when you expect to return. Disabled and elderly friendly if you are a "passenger" and stay with the 4WD. Not to be missed.    The ladies who work this center will share everything with you, show you the good spots to enjoy and even invite you to town events! I have never met people I wanted to have as my friends more than the people of Meeteesee. Plus the thirsts are GRAEAT and the selection of Old West books is incredible. And they probably know some of the info first hand! I spent the National Day of the American Cowboy with the people of Meeteesee, and put that as one of the better times I ever had.    Meeteetse is a blip of 300 people outside Cody, WY. It's known for the Cowboy Bar and the Chocolatier. See my other review on the latter. But this museum is so worth it. Inside it's a lot larger than it seems but you still see the whole thing in half an hour. Interesting sidelights on how the area developed (if you want to call it that!) and especially interesting and entertaining is the story of how they saved the black-footed ferret. See more..

   Located in the middle of no place, rodeo cowboy Tim Kellogg has a wonderful chocolateria. He is a creator of world-class chocolate truffles and other delights. A friend of mine from the Wyoming Arts Council suggested we stop here, and she could not have been right. Tim reportedly has been trained in France, and I am not surprised given all the herbs he uses in his chocolates, including rosemary, basil, and sage. His sage-flavored chocolates were my favorite: an incredible oral delight. Be sure to stop here! Highly recommended. See more..
