    Walnut City WineWorks image
This was our first stop on our winery tour. My husband is a fan of their wines so while we were in the area we made it a priority to see. This is a smaller, more imitate winery than the ones surrounding it. If you are looking to try a new wine and want something that is off the beaten path than I highly recommend Walnut City. Brooke helped us with the tasting and she was very knowledgeable about the wines and was able to help you hone in on our favorites. We had a wonderful time with her and were so glad that it was our first visit. It may have been the best wine tasting we had while visiting. See more..

Memorial to Yamhill County Soldiers of the World War image
Being a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War era, I stop at all small town war memorials while on road trips around the U.S. This one is located in McMinnville, Oregon. It was dedicated in on Armistice Day, now Veterans Day, November 11, 1923. Carved into the upper granite panels are the names of all of the Yamhill County soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in The World War, April 6, 1917 to November 11, 1918. Some soldiers died of typhus following the armistice while waiting for transportation back to the States. On the lower panels are Memorial plaques to Yamhill County soldiers who died in all wars since WWI. This bronze Doughboy statue is located on the well kept grounds of the county courthouse. When you are finished here, walk a couple blocks to the front grounds of the Oregon Mutual Insurance building. There you will find their new WWII Monument to McMinnville soldier Leonard DeWitt recipient of the Distinguished Service Cross for Valor. See more..

    McMinnville Antiques Mall image
We were driving from Portland to the coast and stopped in McMinnville for lunch. We were not expecting to buy anything, but after visiting the store, we both walked out with a purchase. He got a early edition of a classic book, and I got jewelry. In addition to vintage jewelry, they also have pieces by current artists. There is such a wide variety of objects in this store - so much memorabilia. These are not high end antiques - many items for under $50 and many for under $20. Really a fun place to browse. 24. 4.0 Wings and Waves Waterpark (294 reviews)
    - Wings and Waves
    Water Parks
    Wings and Waves Waterpark image
The wave pool and slides are lots of fun. The price of the water park is reasonable as well and worth going for the day. I love the fact that there is this inside water park especially in Oregon where we like to vacation and also where it rains all the time. The only thing that I didn't like were the new cabanas that are rented out. They are very much in the way and makes things feel claustrophobic instead of being open like it used to be. See more..

  30. 3.5 Erratic Rock State Natural Site (16 reviews)
    - Great view and some geology too...
    State Parks
Erratic Rock State Natural Site image
Erratic Rock State Park should be a stop if you're traveling between the Portland metro area and Lincoln City or Newport. Located between McMinnville and Sheridan just off of Hwy 18, it is a great place to take in the valley view, see the Cascades on a clear day, take photos and learn a little bit about some interesting Willamette Valley geological history. A paved pathway leads uphill to the rock. It is wheelchair accessable, but can be a bit steep towards the top. Getting up to the main attraction is only about a quarter mile from the small parking area and there is an informational kiosk explaining how the rock got here from so many miles away (I'll let you find out the answer). One downside is that are no restrooms or picnic tables, but produce stands, wineries, art galleries and a Dairy Queen are close by. Enjoy the blackberries on the hike as well, when they're in season of course. See more..
