  4. 5.0 Pecan Grove Memorial Cemetery (17 reviews)
    - Beautiful Cemetery - Lots of History
    Cemeteries
    Pecan Grove Memorial Cemetery image
McKinney is very proud of this cemetery and for good reason. It's very old with lots of beautiful headstones, the kind they used to make. The gates are open for visitors during the daytime and its a great place for people who love history (and cemeteries) and statuary art. The roads throughout are good and there are lots of mature trees. Every May there is a Memorial Day celebration early in the day. Year before last they had a couple of Texas senators speak. The Boy Scouts run a luncheon after the event and there is free water and limited seating. The McKinney mounted police are usually there as well as a lot of people in different types of uniforms. I would suggest bringing your own chairs just in case and the seating is generally out in the open so shade hats and possibly sun screen would not be a bad idea. This is a good, family friendly event to attend if you will be in the area over Memorial Day. See more..

  6. 5.0 Bonnie Wenk Park (5 reviews)
    - Great park for family gathering or morning walk
    Parks • Playgrounds
    Bonnie Wenk Park image
This park has so many unique trails that you could easily walk for 1-2 hrs and not cover it all. As with most of McKinney you will go through lots of creeks, greenbelts and small parks. Most of McKinney parks connect so you get to see several different Waters, playgrounds, and landscaping. There are several advanced playgrounds including zip lines and unique chair swings and most of the equipments are all kids friendly. There’s also a full, advanced outdoor gym in the center of the park and a stage that is used by locals for yoga, group exercise, and business meetings. Very bike friendly with tons of long and not crowded trails. It’s also pet friendly with a huge dog park attached to it. If they had 2-3 food trucks or food stands this would be a top 5 park in DFW. There’s a neighborhood Walmart and a street taco shop next to the park. See more..
  7. 5.0 McKinney Repertory Theatre (4 reviews)
    - Fun Entertainment
    Theaters
My family of four (two adults, two adult children) spent a Friday evening watching the amazing amateur performances of McKinney locals to the live comedy play called "Drinking Habits". The theatre was nicely equipped and well managed. If you just want a nice, relaxing way to spend an evening in McKinney, I would highly suggest taking in a performance at this theatre. Just good old fashioned fun! See more..

I cannot say enough things of this library and their staff. I am a senior citizen and needed help uploading things to a computer. The sweet gal that helped me could not do enough. She was patient, kind, smart, efficient and spent a lot of time helping me. I did not catch her name but it started with a R. Thank you, thank you, thank you. See more..

  11. 5.0 The Cove (2 reviews)
    - Watch for Exhibits
    Spent 1-2 hours Art Galleries
I have been to a couple of exhibits at The Cove, and I have enjoyed them thoroughly. Often, the featured artist is there to answer questions and sometimes do a short presentation. There is not an exhibit every weekend, so it is best to check out their website for dates and times. The gallery is not large, so it makes for an intimate setting for viewings and presentations. I am so delighted this is an addition to McKinney! See more..
