This landmark was the boyhood home of Samuel Wilson, who became the meatpacker who supplied beef to the U.S. Government. He was known as Uncle Sam and became the symbol of the United States. It was once open to the public but not anymore. Now, it is a house to be viewed as a historic site along with the accompanying New Hampshire State Historic Marker that stands by the road. My visit was combined with a trip to Mason for lunch at Pickity Place. It could also be combined with a trip to Parker’s Maple Barn. The house and marker are between the two.
