If you're in need of a romantic spot to sit and watch a sunset, have I got the recommendation for you! Chandler Hovey Park and Marblehead Lighthouse is a perfect spot in Marblehead Neck to take in the view of the Marblehead historic district shoreline and the surrounding bay and ocean. There are benches scattered around (making it ideal for social distancing) and just be sure to watch your step if you're climbing out to a bench with less even ground. Assuming it wasn’t windy, you could get some clam chowder or sandwiches and have a nice little picnic. We were there the weekend before Memorial Day and saw a fisherman and a handful of other small groups or couples, but not many people at all. The drive to the park will take you past some remarkable houses in Marblehead Neck. There's parking though not a whole lot of it (probably for 30 cars or so) and the bathrooms were locked, but if you're just searching for a beautiful viewpoint, you won't be disappointed. See more..

It's a great stop on the way to Salem. This museum houses the original "Spirit of 76" (known as Yankee Doodle) painting by Archibald M. Willard. It has been in Marblehead since 1880 after being purchased by General Devereux. The drummer boy in the picture was modeled after his son. It's all very interesting history. The ship bells from the 2nd and 3rd USS Marbleheads are on display as you first walk into the building. To the left is the the Selectmen's Room. This is where you'll find the painting and the original Marblehead 1684 deed of purchase. There are many displays and a gift shop. The building itself is very historical. The drive though Marblehead and the shoreline shouldn't be missed. It's a beautiful town. See more..
