    - Excellent Host and Amenities!
    Farms
    Willapa Bay Heritage Farms image
Farmer Deb is a gracious generous host at this excellent Harvest Host-registered RV spot. Deb’s heritage farm sits on a quiet acreage on Willapa Bay featuring u-pick vegetable and herb gardens, an orchard and beautifully maintained flowering trees, bushes and plants. She also raises chickens and goats. A bonus opportunity is the option to milk a goat! Deb hosted a no cost happy hour for the 6 of us guests that evening, offering wines, beers and some of her local produce and goat cheese. For an additional $10 we filled up our fresh water tank, connected to shore power, had use of a dump station and access to a lovely appointed bathroom with shower. You must be a Harvest Host member to stay. We welcome the chance to stay again with Farmer Deb! Highly recommend!! See more..
  3. 4.5 Long Beach (607 reviews)
    - Beautiful
    Beaches
    Long Beach image
What a gorgeous display of nature! This beach is nice flat and hard to drive on. We were in a minivan with no issue. It wasn't too busy in March for us to be out and about and park anywhere with no worries of being hit or anything. Weren't many people out due to it being cold though so this may change in warmer months. Was fun to look for random rocks..we even found a piece of Kimberlite! Kites fly great here and the gulls will put on a pretty great show for some pieces of bread out the window. We really enjoyed our off season visit. This ocean is absolutely unsuitable for swimming even ankle deep I would avoid. The currents were wild and unpredictable. We saw the coast guard doing some practice drills for rescues while visiting nearby at the lighthouse. They said most that enter the water don't end well. Just fyi for those thinking of making this a swimming spot. But to see nature and enjoy the ocean it's a win. See more..

Peninsula Golf Course is located just minutes north of the mouth of the great Columbia River which separates Oregon from Washington. The entrance to the Columbia River from the Pacific Ocean has been dubbed the “Graveyard of the Pacific” due to its treacherous currents and tumultuous storms that have sunk many a ship. Each hole at Peninsula Golf Course is a tribute to 9 of many unfortunate ships and also to the men, women, and children that have lost their lives on the waters of the Columbia-Pacific. When you play our course, you can feel the history of this area and appreciate the true force of nature. See more..

    - Drive on the beach!
    Day Trips
You can drive on this some 26 mile beach, it is spectacular! So far we have found 6 roads to access the beach. Entry points are 2-5 miles apart. Remember to stay within 150 feet of the high tide mark so you dont drive on the clam beds! Fish and Game or the Sheriff, whom patrol the beach, may give you a ticket. 15 years ago this is where I brought my wife to practice her driving. She later passed her test just fine. See more..

  14. 3.5 Back Country Horse Rides (36 reviews)
    - A ride on the beach!
Spent 1-2 hours Horseback Riding Tours
    Back Country Horse Rides image
I have always wanted to ride horseback on the beach, now I can say I have. Yes, it was a very controlled ride. In previous reviews I noticed some people griping about not "being matched with their riding ability". I grew up on a ranch and have a pretty exceptional ability--I also understand just how risky riding horses can be and how easily someone can get hurt-and they only have so many horses. I understand they can't really have "high spirited" horses and take the chance someone wouldn't be able to ride and get hurt. I was very pleased with my horse and I was riding with my granddaughter (2.5yo) it was a big old draft horse. He behaved very well and the ride was quite enjoyable. Would I loved to have been able to take off at a gallop through the water? Sure, but you just can't when you're in a group situation like this. The "wranglers" were quite nice and helpful to those in the group who had zero experience. I would definitely visit and ride with them again. See more..

  17. 2.0 Skippers Equestrian Center (12 reviews)
    - I would NEVER recommend Skipper's to anyone
Tuesday: 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM Horseback Riding Tours
    Skippers Equestrian Center image
I called Skipper's Horse Rental well in advance of our trip to the coast with the express purpose of riding on the beach. I signed our party of four experienced riders up for the 2 hour ride for a Saturday. I called 2 weeks before our scheduled trip to change it to Sunday as I heard the weather was going to be bad on the original day. I was told that was no problem and just make sure we were there a half hour before the ride was to start. We arrived 45 minutes early as we were so excited. No one showed up, so I finally called the number. Skipper told me, "Yeah the storm made quite a mess so I'm not gonna show up today." When I questioned him further about why he couldn't have even given me a call to let me know, his response was, "Well hell, I didn't know it was gonna make such a mess". Not once did he even apologize for our inconvenience of traveling over 500 miles to ride with his outfit. When I told him I was going to leave a review to the effect that it was a poor way to do business, he told me that he didn't care and he was done talking to me. He hung up on me. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE! Very unprofessional and rude. The corrals were very shabby as well, so I doubt they take much pride in their horses either. There was another group of 6 that were in the same situation that Skip left us in. I went across the street to Backcountry Outfitters and they were awesome!!!! Saved our trip and everyone was extremely friendly. Go to Backcountry Outfitters to ride on the beach! See more..
  18. 2.0 Apollo Activities Incorporated (6 reviews)
    - Bike Rentals
    Gear Rentals
Avoid the Bike Rental at this place, only because the rates are super high ($11.00 per hour). We rented bikes for four hours thinking that they had a daily rate, and they did....$36 dollars. Two bikes for the day, with tax, ended up being $75 dollars. The surf shop (Skookum Surf) had bike rentals for $15 dollars for the whole day. Bad move on our part, but hopefully you can avoid making the same mistake with this review. See more..
