   We usually go to Doles Orchard around the bend during apple season, but it was such a nice day that we just kept driving and discovered Brackett Orchard. Since we already had plenty of fresh-picked apples, we just went into the farm stand to look at what was for sale besides apples (jams, pickled items, cider, maple products). It's a beautiful spot, the oldest family owned-and-operated apple orchard in Maine as we later discovered, and has some great views of the surrounding hills and mountains.    We found this cute little gift shop when we were going apple picking at a few orchards in the area. Country Collection is right next to the Brackett apple orchard and is an old one-room schoolhouse filled with 'country' items like antiques, candles, lamps and other furniture, textiles, dried flowers, dolls, wooden bird houses, and lots of other whimsical crafts.    This is a great little trail. I usually do it twice each time, once clockwise and then once counterclockwise. It has some steep parts, a beautiful small falls, view of the Saco River, a brook, forest and a dam. A great place to take the family for a small hike. See more..
