A bit of the beaten path, but well worth a stop. Excellent German inspired wheat beers with something for all tastes. Rustic craft brewery in woodsy setting with great beer and a nice outside beer garden. Food truck on site offering German fare was surprisingly good! See more..
  2. 5.0 Wright Chocolate House (2 reviews)
    - Exquisite chocolates!
    Speciality & Gift Shops

Finding this superb chocolate shop in the tiny village of Limerick, Maine was astonishing. The chocolates and caramels are the quality you'd find in NYC or Paris. The owner makes these artisan chocolates in her nearby test kitchen using fresh ingredients from local dairy farms and sugar houses. Not only are they decadent, they're beautifully designed. You can order them online, but it's a nice country drive of about 40 miles or so from the Portland area. I bought a box of 50 that I selected individually, plus a small box of Maine sea salt chocolate-covered caramels. It was only a few days until Valentine's Day when I went, so the shop was filled with customers. They also box their chocolates very tastefully and wrap them with satin ribbons and even enclose tiny cards that identify each chocolate you've bought. Classy! See more..

Great day hike in the Sawyer Mountain Highlands. Parked in the Limerick, ME side off Sawyer Mountain Road. (Also can park off Rt 117 on the Limington side). Took the trail from the parking lot and climb was steep from the beginning. Made it to the top of Sawyer Mountain then headed over to High Pasture. Saw animal tracks along the way and the McKenney cemetary. Glad we wore hiking shoes because it started raining and gave us better traction. We hiked 3 hours but want to go back to see more.
