  1. 5.0 Kootenai Falls & Swinging Bridge (381 reviews)
    - Amazing
    Spent 1-2 hours Bridges
Kootenai Falls & Swinging Bridge image
Seen a lot of bridges, rivers, and falls. These attractions are a standout. The pristine, no trash, trails were impressive. The hanging bridge did not disappoint and gave a great view of the river, and above all, the falls area was unlike we had ever seen. The unusual terrace features of the upper falls and the amount of water traveling down the shutes and various falls made this a must see. We went early in the morning when few people were around. Highly reccommend. See more..

This should not be missed if you go to Glacier National Park. We took a 2 hour flight with Bill and saw the park from an amazing and wonderful perspective that you simply cannot get on the road or on a hike. Bill is an excellent pilot and pointed out all the various formations and glaciers and other sites and had stories to go along with some of them. He made an already wonderful experience even more enjoyable. The price for this service is very reasonable. Worth every penny! I have a very adventuresome Aunt who is turning 92 soon, and I want to bring her here! See more..

Libby Area Chamber of Commerce image
The Chamber of Commerce building doubles as the Libby Visitor Center. When I went in on a Thursday afternoon, there was no one working the counter (explanation below). There was tons of literature and maps of Montana, "Glacier Country," Libby, and more. I picked up some literature and went outside. What was happening just outside as the weekly Thursday afternoon (3-6:30 PM) Farmers Market. All kinds of stuff from neat crafts to many kinds of food were for sale. We picked up some bagels for Friday breakfast and some donuts for immediate consumption. The Farmers Market was nicely organized and well attended. See more..
  8. 5.0 Lake Koocanusa (1 review)
    - The ultimate outdoor playground
Bodies of Water • Hiking Trails • Off-Road & ATV Trails
    Lake Koocanusa image
The lake is situated in northwest Montana, and borders on Canada. It was actually formed by damming the Kootenai River. On this trip the expressed purpose was to ride dirt bikes as the water level is particularly low this time of year. This leaves a lot of room for dirt bikes and ATV's. There are also numerous bluffs with networks of trails great for hiking and exploration. In addition, the lake offers the full gamut of water activities. This includes fishing, boating, swimming, ice fishing, canoeing and any other water related activities. There are also several undeveloped camping areas good for spending a few days. Remember if you carry it in, carry it out. There are no services close by. Eureka is the closest town for necessary provisions and services. See more..

  10. 4.5 Libby Heritage Museum (21 reviews)
    - A GREAT HISTORY OF NW MONTANA
    Spent 1-2 hours History Museums
    Libby Heritage Museum image
I have been to museums in America and Europe and the Libby Heritage Museum ranks in the top 10! It displays history in the actual circumstances: the importance of mining is by going through a mine and displaying the treasures found in Montana; the importance of lumbering is by touring the grounds and seeing the equipment used, the cabins the miners lived in, a mess hall with great food when available; a closed in area of a furnished old time room; taxidermy fauna local to the area; and the newest most exciting thing is a steam locomotive being refurbished to provide rides to visitors. The volunteers give a very warm welcome to all visitors. A realistic way to enjoyably learn the history of the area. See more..

  12. 4.5 Kootenai National Forest (10 reviews)
    - Always some adventure to be had
    National Parks • Forests
    Kootenai National Forest image
Hike on Mt. Marston Kootenai National Forest offers many activities, they include hiking, camping, boating and swimming just to name few. There are also developed campgrounds, though they may not be functional till Memorial Day. It is important to come self sufficient. This trip was for a hike on Mt. Marston. Coming from Kalispell this trail head is about an hour northwest on US 93. We only did an out and back totaling five miles (8 km). Even with this shortened version the elevation gain was still nearly 1200 feet (365 m) . There are some challenging inclines so be prepared. The views once above the tree tops are breathtaking. Murphy, Dickey and Bull Lakes are easily spotted. The hike to the observation tower is about 12 miles (19 km) out and back. It is important to be Bear Aware and if you bring it in bring it out. Remember when hiking descending yields to ascending. See more..

  16. 4.0 Leigh Lake (4 reviews)
    - Definitely not easy.
Spent 1-2 hours Bodies of Water • Hiking Trails
    Leigh Lake image
Don't let the mile and a half distance fool you. You will earn this one. The trail begins in the back of the parking lot and climbs the entire way. The first half is just forest floor. This will become rocky, but easily walkable until the waterfall. From here it gets difficult. It's steep with a lot of loose shale and gravel underfoot. You'll need to watch your step on the way up, more so on the way down. Don't expect to do this one quickly. Definitely not recommended for small children. See more..
  17. 4.0 Zero Uno Zero Robotics (2 reviews)
    - Interesting concept!
Saturday: 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Art Galleries • Speciality Museums • Art Museums
We saw their sign on our way to Kootenai Falls and had to stop in to check it out. Very interesting artwork! We especially liked the robot sculptures made from various reclaimed auto, electronic, and aviation parts with a "steam punk" kind of look. We purchased one of the larger, floor-standing sculptures for our home. See more..
  18. 3.0 Pioneer Park (1 review)
    - A Small Urban Park
    Parks
    Pioneer Park image
It's hard to describe this small (the operative word here) park. It's smack in the midst of a development of homes. It certainly is not large. There are two parking areas at opposite sides of the park. There are several "trails" through the park. You can walk them all in about 15 minutes. There is some small playground equipment and a picnic shelter in the park. What would be nice would be some signs explaining the history of the park and why it is called Pioneer Park. See more..
