I was drawn in by the sign out front that said leggings on it as my daughters and I are all legging lovers! Sure enough they had super soft leggings from kids to plus size with all unique patterns on them. My kids loved them they think they are the most cozy leggings they own now. The staff was also polite and friendly and the girl at the register was very helpful and signed me up for their rewards program too! See more..

Spent < 1 hour Religious Sites
Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul image
This historic, imposing, magnificent, Gothic-style Roman Catholic Church, built high on a hill, is one of a kind in Maine. It was started in 1871, finished in 1936. Its tallest spire is 167 feet (51 m), making it the city’s defining landmark. As the largest church in Maine and second largest in New England, it covers one acre (0.4 ha) and seats 2,200 parishioners at a single Mass. Its clergy hold Mass in Latin, Spanish, and English. Parking is curbside or in a paved lot across the street. On our visit, parishioners were arriving early for an afternoon Mass. Although not dressed to attend a service, we were privileged to be able to see its interior before Mass began. While the stone Basilica itself seemed in good condition, its adjoining brick edifices have seen better days. We adored all that were able to see on our visit; we plan to return better attired when we can take part in Mass. See more..

    - A fitting tribute.

    Veteran's Park image
Every city and town in this country should have a veterans memorial park. This one is particularly evocative and is in a beautiful setting by the river. The park has several monuments, including the U.S.S. Maine and Price of Freedom monuments and a Vietnam memorial wall, a wartime jeep and plane, a Navy gun and anchor, flag poles, and at least a dozen dedicated granite benches. The flowers this time of year were in full bloom. See more..

  13. 4.0 Baxter Brewing Company (50 reviews)
    - Atmosphere, Beers, and Games
    Monday: 11:30 AM - 9:00 PM Breweries
    Baxter Brewing Company image
I visited on a Saturday early evening for beers and apps with friends. I ordered the Maine Huts & Trails (MHT) which is an awesome lager that denotes some money to a great cause. Friends of mine weren’t aren’t beer drinkers but they had Prosecco on draft for those people. I ordered tenders and fries along with the turkey club with tots. Both meals were good. The atmosphere and service of Baxter was great to include lots of games. Night time in and outside of the brewery is lit up with a lot of beautiful lights in the old mill building. Definitely worth a visit. See more..
  14. 4.0 Bates College Museum of Art (23 reviews)
    - It'll get better.
Monday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Art Museums
Bates College Museum of Art image
It's a small art museum and there wasn't much to look at because they were closed all summer for renovations and right now they're between exhibits. It was disappointing, even though I knew the situation ahead of time. I thought they'd at least have more of their permanent collection on display. So techically it was a 'poor' experience, but the situation was understandable. See more..

  17. 4.0 Marsden Hartley Cultural Center / Lewiston Public Library (3 reviews)
    - In this city, it's a great attraction!
    Monday: 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM Libraries
There's really not much to do in Lewiston. I know, I lived there half of my life and growing up I used to visit this place quite often. There is much to see, they have a section devoted to the Marsden Hartley Cultural Center. The library really is one of the only places to enjoy when visiting the town, along with Thorncrag Bird Sanctuary. See more..
  18. 4.0 Apple Valley Golf Course (2 reviews)
    - Afternoon Tee
    Golf Courses
My fiancé and I come here every summer. I love this course. We usually walk it because it's just so beautiful at that time of day. I'm not a professional, but it's still fun for me to swing a few for the fun of it! Nice greens and lovely area. See more..
  19. 4.0 Blue Goose Tavern (2 reviews)
    - Best Dive Bar!
    Bars & Clubs
    Blue Goose Tavern image
I have been here a few times when visiting in the area, and usually stop by in the afternoon. My Dad grew up in Lewiston and always talks about walking from his parents home on College Street to the Blue Goose in the 1940's and 1950's. This last visit in September was later at night with family visiting from Germany, and it was awesome! The place was packed with a crowd that was a mix of younger and older people. The beer is reasonably priced, the bathroom graffiti is interesting and the CD jukebox has a wide variety of music. Also, the $1.00 Jell-O shots kept our German visitors entertained. Of course, we will always stop by for a beer when in the LA area. See more..
  20. 4.0 Simard-payne Law Memorial Park (1 review)
    - City Sojourn on the Androscoggin
    Parks
This riverfront park had paved walking paths, on easy grades, along the Androscoggin River. The park also had a cluster of benches, shade trees, a multi-use playing field, an amphitheatre, and abundant interpretive displays. It had a poignant monument to honor two fallen police officers as well. Parking was in a dirt lot. Some former mills nearby had a lot of graffiti, but I didn’t let that deter me in my sojourn. A former railroad bridge led across the river to Auburn. I most liked the railroad bridge, the amphitheater, and all the historical markers; I least liked the city’s apparent neglect of graffiti abatement. See more..
  21. 3.5 Androscoggin Bank Colisee (12 reviews)
    - Referee hockey here
Spent 1-2 hours Arenas & Stadiums
Its a nice venue. Larger than I expected walking in. Could use some upgrades and some clean up, but all in all it is a nice rink. The refs room were decent size, the locker rooms decent, nice concessions, and lots of parking and seating. See more..

  24. 3.0 Kennedy Park (1 review)
    - Big City Park Offers Activities for All Ages
    Monday: 6:30 AM - 9:30 PM Parks
This spacious, pleasant, family-friendly park was just northeast of downtown. It had children’s play equipment, two basketball courts, an outdoor pool, a skateboard area, a gazebo, benches, shade trees, trash barrels, and lots of fresh-cut lawn. It looked like a great place to have a picnic and bring children during a tour of city sights. No restrooms were onsite. I most liked the well-tended grounds; I least liked the area’s time-limited curbside parking. See more..
  25. 2.0 Northeast Charter (1 review)
    - Uncomfortable tour
    Bus Services
It appears as though Royal Caribbean has a contract with this company as we noticed many Northeast tour buses at each port stop. We took the Camden by land and sea tour and our tour guide was Paul Chapman and the driver was named Reno. Paul could not have made this tour more uncomfortable for us by continually chastising the driver. We should have been tipped off immediately when we saw the sign in the bus stating the driver and tour guide DO NOT share tips. The driver was sweet and he certainly did not need to be micromanaged by Paul. Paul is a retired school teacher and he apparently continues to speak to others in a scolding, condescending manner.
