    Florida Botanical Gardens image
Absolutely stunning gardens! We visited on an extremely hot day so that made it a bit challenging to walk around for too long but it was still enjoyable. Admission is free, which makes it appealing, especially if you can’t tolerate the heat and just want to stay briefly. We definitely want to come back next time we’re in the area and the weather is a little cooler. Highly recommend a visit. See more..

    McGough Nature Park image
This place is great to visit. The park is 26 acres on the Intracoastal with a nice walking trail. On entering the park we viewed the pond with a large amount of turtles sunning themselves. Along the trail near the indoor nature center we enjoyed all the beautiful birds of prey in cages. The indoor center had souvenirs, food for purchase to feed the turtles, several reptiles & the cutest screech owls hanging out in the open. The nature center is free to enter but we donated specifically to feed the owls. We walked the entire trail with one of the boardwalks ending at the intracoastal with great views. The trail was beautifully shaded by all the foliage. There were several covered picnic tables & benches to enjoy a snack along the way. See more..
  4. 4.5 Pinellas Trail (159 reviews)
    - A good and safe riding trail mostly off the main roads
    Biking Trails
    Pinellas Trail image
This trail is an urban trail, but mostly off the actual roads, making it safer. Do watch at the road crossings! You could go about 40 miles, apparently, but we did 10. A few map plaques would be helpful, especially showing how far to the next bench for a coffee stop. Trail is well kept and plenty wide. Site markers with locations to guide 911 service were frequent (just in case). See more..

  8. 4.5 Arkane Aleworks (48 reviews)
    - Love Joe and Dan like Brothers. Arkane Rocks!!
    Sunday: 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Bars & Clubs • Breweries
    Arkane Aleworks image
Arkane Aleworks is a brewery founded by Joe Scheibelhut (actual spelling) and Dan Graston, and represents the culmination of years of passion and planning. It started as two poor kids with a dream and has grown into two poor kids with a dream and a Facebook page, but the best is yet to come! Joe spent the last two years brewing at Rapp Brewing Co. During his tenure there, Joe worked his way to Head Brewer and his dedication and attention to detail aided Rapp Brewing in winning the Best Small Batch Beer and Best Small Brewer awards at the 2014 Best Florida Beer Championship. He once ate pizza out of a tree. Many of you Tampa Bay locals will also remember Dan's face from behind the bar at Rapp. After your done cringing at that memory, you'll hopefully also remember his knowledgeable and helpful service, razor wit, and some other third flattering aspect. If not, just know that these things are all true and he wants to have a beer with you. He once saw Joe eat pizza out of a tree. He's pretty sure it was, like, a year old (the pizza). Why Arkane? Arcane means "understood by few, mysterious or secret." To us, it represents the aspect of brewing that historically, and to this day, remains misunderstood and elusive. It's the intersection of vocation and art, and it's the inspiration for all the innovation and collaboration found in the Craft Beer Movement. The reason yeast was once called "God is Good." It's the core of what drives us and brings us together: the calling to solve those mysteries and uncover new flavors. To seek out new life and new civili...oh, sorry, our bad. In short, it's the motivation to spend a whole bunch of time and sweat making new beers to share with our friends. Yes, you too. Who wants a beer? See more..
