  1. 5.0 Appalachian Trail Adventures (238 reviews)
    - Perfect adventure
Thursday: 8:00 AM - 9:00 PM Walking Tours • Sightseeing Tours • Hiking & Camping Tours • Kayaking & Canoeing
    Appalachian Trail Adventures image
John from ATA made our weekend camping trip to Vermont exciting. We did the Caving and Kayaking adventure. We were new to caving, so we did a cave that wasn’t too difficult. Still, the ability to stretch and lift yourself up a little is required. It was challenging and fun, exactly what my girlfriends and I were looking for. Kayaking was done in a gentle river, and it was like paddling through a maze. I highly recommend booking these activities if you’re looking for something to do on your trip. John is friendly and easygoing and he offers a variety of activities from sightseeing to caving! See more..

  3. 5.0 Peak Performance Ski Shop (16 reviews)
    - Excellent customer service and rental fees
    Thursday: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Gear Rentals
    Peak Performance Ski Shop image
So glad I rented skis here instead of on the mountain! I have boots so I only needed skis and poles. I placed the order online ahead of time which saved me a few additional bucks and when I arrived the friendly staff efficiently helped get me skis and they threw in the poles for free. I originally was only going to ski for 2 days but when I called to extend my rentals by a day, they were completely casual about it and just said to return them whenever and let them know how many days I’d rented them when I returned them. The shop is small but had several options for socks and a face/neck guard which I needed and the merch prices were comparable to what you’d spend at Killington. However the rentals were less than half of what I would’ve spent on the mountain so definitely worth it. See more..

    - An active snowy day off the slopes!
    Hiking & Camping Tours
Joined the 11:30am Snowshed Tour as a solo traveler. Lisa was a great guide and offered wonderful conversation. Only 2 others were on the tour; loved how small the group was!! The lunch in the yurt was good (apple butternut bisque!) and made for a cool destination after our ascent. It was a great way to be active, enjoy the snow and see the area without skiing! I recommend this tour & would do it again! See more..

  11. 5.0 Kent Pond (1 review)
    - Famous fall foliage site
Spent < 1 hour Nature & Wildlife Areas
This is probably the most frequently photographed place for fall foliage - the leaves are gorgeous and the reflections in Kent Pond are spectacular. There is a walk about half way around the pond- on your right as you face the pond. The walk can be squishy if it has rained recently - sneakers or e en boots advised. It is slightly up hill in places, but well marked. Beautiful views and a peaceful walk/commune with nature. There is also a view of the pond from Thundering Book road, but this spot is preferred for photos and walks. See more..

    - Short Hike to Stunning Waterfall
    Hiking Trails
    Thundering Brook Falls Trail image
Upon the recommendation of a local, I stopped by the Thundering Brook Falls trail for a late afternoon hike. It was hot and muggy, but the hike is short. Still I recommend bringing water and bug spray (the flies were bad). Much of the trail is a boardwalk along the Appalachian Trail. There is a little elevation gain up to the falls overlook. I spent a few minutes enjoying the sound of the water falling over the rocks. It was lovely! I highly recommend visiting this gorgeous waterfall! See more..

    Gifford Woods State Park image
We camped the last weekend that the park was open for the season. It was during Covid times and I was grateful for the care that was taken by the employees and the visitors. The bathrooms were cleaned 2x per day and that was very appreciated. Our trip lined up with the new moon so we walked to Kent Pond once it was dark and it did not disappoint!! The stars and milky way were mesmerizing!! I love that the AT crosses through it this park, there were many fun places to explore! The lean to was the perfect size for our 2 person tent to be fully covered with room to move around. We had plenty of room left to spread out our gear which was clutch since it rained half our time camping. I can’t wait come back to this park to camp!! See more..

Yes, It's a bit pricey. $30 per person for 1 round trip. But you get your own gondola for the ten minute ride and on a clear day the view is pretty sweet. I know the giant hogweed is a dangerous plant, but it sure makes a nice wildflower meadow for photos. The gondola takes you to the Peak Lodge which is by far the best top of the mountain place to eat or drink that we've ever seen, and we've seen a bunch. Lovely views and easy hiking trails. Mrs. B and I had gin and tonics, made with their own delicious gin. Later we shared a tasting of two different gins and two different toquillas. DELICIOUS!
